I don't think this game deserves all its bad press. Granted it was the weakest classic Mega Man game and the english VA wasn't that great, but as a regular game it was pretty good
The dumb shits HERE are the stark opposite of the dumb shits who complain about THIS game. A reality check is that NES is back in style now for a reason, and it's the same reason you c0cksuckers enjoy MM8. THINK HARD.
8-bit is OLDER, it's going to come FIRST, before anybody begins looking at low-poly/32bit as retro. Right now, consoles are strong enough to remix older games, but not something as advanced as this; 16-bit still isn't in bloom.
@halfdarkshadow I've been playing the Mega Man games since before I was able to tie my shoes, and I can go on record as saying 8 is my all-time favourite. I was disappointed in the direction of 9 and 10. Honestly, it's all contextual. If 9 and 10 came out as they were in the early to mid 90s, they would have been ignored. And I think that if 8 came out now the way it was and had some features like leaderboards and better voice acting, it would be lauded as a throwback gem.
@halfdarkshadow finally someone agrees. i would add the 8-bit would have been fine if the level designs were of same caliber as say megamans 2, 3 and 4, something coherent.
@halfdarkshadow I can telly you right now that you are the only 15 people that would gladly disagree that Mega Man was at his best when he was 8-bit. Just because something looks 8-bit doesn't mean that it is limited. Take a look at Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch!
@Bittergamer1886 I have no problem with 8-bit games or anything:)
(Megaman 8-Bit Deathmatch I actually play often haaha)
But it was a shame that even 9 and 10 were 8-bit..
(9 makes a little more sense because Capcom wanted to make 9 for the nostalgia),
10 as 8-bit is taking it too far.
I was excited to see where was the series going to take after 8, but now it feels like a fan service at this point and if anything I would rather see the 16/32-bit atleast like it was for 7, 8 and the X-series:/
@halfdarkshadow Isn't the only difference between 8-bit and 16/32 bit games purely cosmetic (Besides the extra buttons)? Besides, I think it is actually harder to do 8-bit games, because Capcom had to dig deep. All the new graphics artists had to learn a new style of drawing, while all the old ones had to remember what they drew years ago. And besides, you have to agree that Mega Man's soundtrack was best 8-bit. I mean, the music wasn't bad here, it just never popped...
@halfdarkshadow I do agree that megaman 8 was a great game. But I dont agree with what you think about megaman 9. It wasn't any harder than the other old megaman games. Pretty much all the 8 bit ones are like that. And 8 bit games are a style now. Back then that was the only way to make games, but lots of people still like the way it looks. Megaman 9 brought back the same feeling of playing they old megaman games for the first time. Time to move on? People just like 8 bit stuff.
@Sonoftutuchoppy I will be honest I had no problem with 9. I LOVE 8-bit games (Most of my free time consumes of freeware platformers lately),
My problem was 10 being 8-bit. It was taking it too far and it felt like pure fan service. When I was about 12 I really hoping more into that 16/32 bit era of side-scrolling platform gaming like 7&8 was and the X series.
9 brought back the nostalgia for thousands of fans like myself but I think 9 was enough.
i remember my mom getting me this when i was like 6 or 7 and i was so addicted to this game its not even funny i use to listen to the intro every time i put the cd in on my ps1 lol
This game gives me a clear view of my transition from american entertainment to japanese. When I first played Megaman 8 I hated it because for one it was on the playstation, and I was kind of a 'fan boy' back then. I also didn't understand why megaman looked and sounded so different and the music was so different from Megaman 7, which I loved. Now I feel like a tool. I traded this game for Tomb Raider and don't have it anymore, but I feel like buying this game off Amazon or something.
What saddens me about this is that it gives us a small glimpse at what a real Mega Man anime could've been like. The character designs are just PERFECT.
You know what? I would love to see a Megaman X Sandbox game where you can travel around the city anytime you like, taking out Mavericks left and right
Man do I miss the old feelings that this game brought me as a child. When I was a kid Megaman was my favorite hero wanted to be him so badly back then :)
HOLY CRAP this game has so much sentimental value to me its not even funny. Say what you want about the bad voice acting and the Japanese vs. American issue. All I know is that when I watch this intro the childhood memories come rushing back. First videogame and favorite Megaman I ever played.
MM9 and 10 are fine games, but I still wished Capcom continued the original Megaman series with the look of this game. Loved the smooth animated sprites. I guess it took too much work?
i love megaman but you gotta admit his lower legs are HUGE!! haha this game is awesome. when psx was still new my cousin had this game and i had X4 and we would always swap games. capcom is just the bomb with megaman, phoenix wright, resident evil, and soo many more amazing games.
I gotta say, I actually like this intro music better than the Japanese version. It just goes better with what's going on and seemed more synced to what's happening in the animation.
not trying to sound mean to the scientist of the future but if Light and Wily could make machines that easily defeat those of the future, they sure do suck.I mean cmon X and Zero were made a 100 years back, and no reploid of that age could take them dow

I love this game so much and i still have it on my ps1, this was my first Megaman game i ever played. This was the shit back then, now adays you see battle network and starforce or something like that. I would totally buy this again in a psn store. Taking a stroll down memory lain.
no offense to classic 8-bit megaman fans, but i much prefer this megaman gameplay, its the closest to the MMX gameplay, or maybe i'm just used to growing to non 8-bit games, so i'd go with the MM8 gameplay
@tdomega rockman and forte did it amazingly well too! And you could play as bass...which was EVEN closer to X games as the original series was going to get!
@DanTheManCalter Dude I totally agree. Idk why MM8 gets so much hate from reviewers and stuff. I thought it was really awesome and they should've expanded on it instead of making MM9 and 10 basically games that I could've made with Flash and a Sprite Sheet.
That would've been interesting. Don't sell 9 and 10 short, though. Old fashioned games or not, they're still solid and really fun additions to the series. If they make an 11, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it in the style of 8. Now that Inti Creates has made a couple of 8-bit titles, a 32 bit game shouldn't be too difficult.
@Deathaxle I don't quite understand why capcom can't make more megaman games that are more like this one, because you're right this is awesome. I've never played MM8 yet from videos of the game I've watched Ican tell that MM8 is the best mega man game ever. Seriously mega man 9 and 10 should be remade for home consoles to play like this and not like the classic 8-bit games, also they need the animated scenes and opening like this game's.
@Deathaxle none taken. even though 1993 was my year and i grew up on 8 Bit games, i have to agree that MegaMan 8 was the best.. to be honest, MegaMan 8 was my 2nd MegaMan game (my first was MegaMan Xtreme for the gameboy color) but yea, i completely agree, capcom had the right idea by making the game this way in MegaMan 8.. why did they make 9 and 10, 8-bit instead of something new, like 3D, i dont know..
@Deathaxle This intro is really good it reminds me of Mega Man X4, but we all know once Zero was a fully usable character X was dust in the wind. LONG LIVE ZERO
@Shademan017 yes, zero is awesome, i always finish x games with him, but its a bit more entertaining beating sigma with x(no armor, no life up), just for the challenge
@Deathaxle I could see why you think that. Yeah maybe they got some shitty voice acting (but down right hilarious like the Cd-i) and the story is corny but at least the gameplay is still the same not to mention the colorful and more detailed backgrounds and enimies (Did you notice when Metools fall off an edge they lose their balance? so cute ^_^)
@emfpki Huh? I never noticed that please explain. (I'm not to familiar with the X series I'm still stuck on Sigma. (He's one tough Motherfucker especially that if you quit you start from square one)
On another note If I recall correctly some people say that Robo Fluenza in Megaman 10 is the early stage of the Maverick Virus.
@WegraX The evil energy in MM8 is where the Maverick Virus comes from. I don't want to give too much away if you haven't played the whole series, but I will say that the epidemic has a lot to do with not only Sigma, but Zero moreso.
@emfpki Interestingly enough if you had the luxury of playing Power Fighters ( Unlocked via Anniversery collection) takes place somewhere after 8 that shows Wily is working on a "girly haired" robot which Bass laughs at. Hmmm who could that be?
@WegraX I would actually refer to Bass's ending as one of the three major pieces of the puzzle for the plotline between the classic series and the X series. (The other's being MM8's ending and Zero's storyline in MMX4.)
I understand why so many people like the Japanese op better, but I disagree for two major reasons. #1 This intro is more in line with the "traditional" MM music sound. No vocals, just very complex electronic melodies. #2 This guitar riff pwns!
One of those games that I'll sit through the intro for, each and every time. That song. THAT SONG.. The theme on the main menu was awesome, too.

empanadaz910 1 year ago
I swear if this game didn't have anime cutscenes, anime wouldn't be popular!

Brings back so many good memories. This was my first game on PSX. Probably my favorite Mega Man intro!
JoshuaMorseMusic 1 year ago
no offense to classic 8-bit megaman fans, but i much prefer this megaman gameplay, its the closest to the MMX gameplay, or maybe i'm just used to growing to non 8-bit games, so i'd go with the MM8 gameplay
Deathaxle 1 year ago 28
@Deathaxle i like the 8 bit very much, but your right. i prefer mm8 and mmx4-6 on ps1.
tdomega 1 year ago 9
@tdomega yea mm8 and mmx are the next generation of mega man gaming
speedster303 1 year ago
@tdomega I think you mean MMx4 and x5. x6 was freakin terrible.
HyperDKaiser 1 year ago
@tdomega Which is weird because those are the only megaman games for console I have ever owned and love them all haha.
Darkwingrocker 1 year ago
@tdomega Megaman 8 gameplay was KICK ASS!@(@#)*$#@!¨%
LaDommage 1 year ago
@tdomega totally agree with you. but i love all the X games
chadsgiantdevilv2 11 months ago
@tdomega rockman and forte did it amazingly well too! And you could play as bass...which was EVEN closer to X games as the original series was going to get!
nypad5 11 months ago
@tdomega Those are the only megaman games I've actually ever bought haha. (If you don't count the gameboy color/advanced) They are my favorite too
Darkwingrocker 10 months ago
@Deathaxle No offense taken. The 8-bit stuff is really good, but the PS1/Saturn games do have much more refined gameplay.
DanTheManCalter 1 year ago
@DanTheManCalter Dude I totally agree. Idk why MM8 gets so much hate from reviewers and stuff. I thought it was really awesome and they should've expanded on it instead of making MM9 and 10 basically games that I could've made with Flash and a Sprite Sheet.
Unknownsage13 1 year ago
@Unknownsage13
DanTheManCalter 1 year ago
@Deathaxle I don't quite understand why capcom can't make more megaman games that are more like this one, because you're right this is awesome. I've never played MM8 yet from videos of the game I've watched Ican tell that MM8 is the best mega man game ever. Seriously mega man 9 and 10 should be remade for home consoles to play like this and not like the classic 8-bit games, also they need the animated scenes and opening like this game's.
teenkitsune 1 year ago
@Deathaxle I myself just love mega man. All of them 1-10 + GB's + MM&B. Are all amazing in there own way!
saurfan 1 year ago
@Deathaxle none taken. even though 1993 was my year and i grew up on 8 Bit games, i have to agree that MegaMan 8 was the best.. to be honest, MegaMan 8 was my 2nd MegaMan game (my first was MegaMan Xtreme for the gameboy color) but yea, i completely agree, capcom had the right idea by making the game this way in MegaMan 8.. why did they make 9 and 10, 8-bit instead of something new, like 3D, i dont know..
NikkeiDS 11 months ago
@Deathaxle This intro is really good it reminds me of Mega Man X4, but we all know once Zero was a fully usable character X was dust in the wind. LONG LIVE ZERO
Shademan017 11 months ago
@Shademan017 yes, zero is awesome, i always finish x games with him, but its a bit more entertaining beating sigma with x(no armor, no life up), just for the challenge
Deathaxle 11 months ago
@Deathaxle I could see why you think that. Yeah maybe they got some shitty voice acting (but down right hilarious like the Cd-i) and the story is corny but at least the gameplay is still the same not to mention the colorful and more detailed backgrounds and enimies (Did you notice when Metools fall off an edge they lose their balance? so cute ^_^)
WegraX 10 months ago
@WegraX The story is corny, but it does (somewhat) explain where the Maverick virus comes from.
emfpki 10 months ago
@emfpki Huh? I never noticed that please explain. (I'm not to familiar with the X series I'm still stuck on Sigma. (He's one tough Motherfucker especially that if you quit you start from square one)
On another note If I recall correctly some people say that Robo Fluenza in Megaman 10 is the early stage of the Maverick Virus.
WegraX 10 months ago
@WegraX The evil energy in MM8 is where the Maverick Virus comes from. I don't want to give too much away if you haven't played the whole series, but I will say that the epidemic has a lot to do with not only Sigma, but Zero moreso.
emfpki 10 months ago
@emfpki Interestingly enough if you had the luxury of playing Power Fighters ( Unlocked via Anniversery collection) takes place somewhere after 8 that shows Wily is working on a "girly haired" robot which Bass laughs at. Hmmm who could that be?
WegraX 10 months ago
@WegraX I would actually refer to Bass's ending as one of the three major pieces of the puzzle for the plotline between the classic series and the X series. (The other's being MM8's ending and Zero's storyline in MMX4.)
emfpki 10 months ago
for the first time for megaman franchise, I prefer this english op rather than the jap one. >.> jazzy parts are soooooo good. <3
residenthazard5 1 year ago
I wish megaman still looked like this. I HATE the mega man-x and XX and all that over design he has endured in the latest years.
Astrodisiac 1 year ago
I understand why so many people like the Japanese op better, but I disagree for two major reasons. #1 This intro is more in line with the "traditional" MM music sound. No vocals, just very complex electronic melodies. #2 This guitar riff pwns!
eklectiktoni 1 year ago
how could anyone likes this better than ELECTRICAL COMMUNICATION???
well maybe this is the theme they grew up with...i cant blame them for that...

i guess some games get the opening, from the tv show op itself, just why tho?

@slitheryjuggler94 8 should be last just for the crappy voice acting on EVERY SINGLE PERSON. THEY COULDN'T GET ONE CHARACTER RIGHT.
wakkyvideogroup 1 year ago
@wakkyvideogroup yeah i agree the voice acting was bad, but i really like the gameplay it was one of the most challenging mega man games for me

I wish this was a anime! well there is this one but themed on megaman 1-10 with this theme! Total awesome! But there will never be one :(
