We live on a rural property in the Manawatu, and we had one of these beautiful fellows land on our driveway about 10m from our house the other day. Very handsome birds, and great for keeping down the rodent population. I have to lock up my little chickens before they are fledged though :)
I seriously considered Kahu as a middle name for my son.
