the m16 is a not reliable rifle, you can't fire it extensively or else it would surely jam. the main reason is that is uses a Direct impingement gas system. it is a type of gas operation for a firearm that directs gas from a fired cartridge directly to the bolt carrier to cycle the action. as the firing cycles, the bolt carrier overheats and gets dirty as well as the gas tube. so in a certain time it could jam. That's why it needs a heavy lubrication and maintenance.

They should ditch those damn M-16s and get AK from the black market or turn those captured M1 Garands to Tanker-type rifles for jungle fights. I wouldn't be surprised if those M-16s have 1-12 twist rates shooting junk ammo supplied at overpriced rate by the US and gladly taken in by RP's corrupt military.
