This is probably one of the most poignant and necessary songs about conflict between nations.I'm sure it is based on fact as I think I read about Xmas truces between the Allies and the German soldiers. Now if only the truce could last for 364 more days of the year the world would live in peace and there would be no more deaths of sons,brothers and husbands for a cause that is futile. May the world live in peace in my lifetime and religion which is the cause of most conflicts teach love not hate!

@nicefrog45 ...Although not a "religion", Christianity teaches love...not hate. However, if attacked, Christians will and have the right and the responsibility to defend themselves and their allies.
