Exact. The French were winning at the beginning of the war in America. But as the war gained in intensification in Europe, the King did'nt send much supplies there.
The English had not such problem. They weren't directly concerned in land battlefields in Europe, so they could send more men fighting for their own possessions in America.
While I'm not sure what part the Americas played in the Seven Years War I do know that Prussia was fighting for land claims I believe in Silesia and they were also fighting the French and Austrians as well as the Russians, it was for this reason King Louis XV wouldn't deploy troops to support his colonies in Canada.
