I am a huge HOT fan but DBSK is better at singing...but that's because HOT is made up of ballad singer (kang ta), rock singer (hee jun), and rapper/singers (Jae Won, Tony and Woo Hyuk) if this is not lip synched, but sang live then this is a great performance
How anyone can say Xiah and Changmin sing weakly i don't know but i don't think some people realise how little time artists get to spend on these special performances. They don't get weeks or months of rehearsal time like they do for their regular promotions. People don't give the artists enough credit xP At the end of the day they did their best and that's all that should count, surely?

@meluvbasil yepp jaejoong was injured. if you look god you see him walking away (backstage) so yeah. same in rising sun. jaejoong had his injured leg for 2 months and they did this 3 weeks after rising sun.

Old school k-pop dance style is different from that of now. They had more power and light steps. Undoubtedly, DBSK have great dancing skill but I think it's still not easy for DBSK to express the charm of old shcool k-pop choreography.

Trend of the music will always change, so later on DBSK music style will become obsolete after few years too by newer popular idol groups fans.

I think it's more like you can't see how any boy band can come CLOSE to the impact H.O.T has made. If H.O.T was to seriously stayed together til now, I don't think Shinhwa; DBSK; Big Bang or any other boy band would even have a chance to rise. Especially how they managed to pull of 45,000 people to their last concert?

You see if korea had as much access (internet) to the world as now, i wouldn't be surprised if H.O.T. made highest fanclub count in the world like DBSK did. People can deny this, because DBSK fans are way too young to really know who h.o.t. was. It was H.O.T. who really made SM ent. known around the asia continents as of today. They were one of the few who were han ryu, & sold 1 million album. Their MV was on MTV (U.S.) awards back in the days.

OMG. This was one of my faves from Chotti!! DBSK did pretty well, but of course, they didn't do it the way H.O.T. did. Nobody can. lol. Originals are always best. (Well... Whitney Houston's version of Dolly Parton's song is a very rare exception...!!)

i am a diehard dbsk fan and i watched this vid first, then compared it with the original...and i have to say that the original was better. i love the dbsk's vocals a lot more...but H.O.T's was more..spirited? it felt a lot more alive to me. i guess this song just doesn't fit their voice that's all.

i think comparing HOT and DBSG, DBSG's singing skills are much better since they are also known as acapella group as well. But I think because of that, We Are the Future's edgeness disappeared which makes this particular song better.
ps. most ppl dont usually like the remake compared to the original. BUT b/c I heard this version first, I like this better cuz I already got used to it.
this performance was probably still when he had his leg injury; That's why he didn't dance in the Rising Sun MV, and was replaced by the masked dancer in most of the performances that year.

People who started a debate over who's better for TRIBUTE performance is just plain stupid.
Original singers have to be good obviously, if not, no one will be singing their songs now. As for singers who sang in the tribute... it's their way of showing respect for the original singers. Who cares if they can sing well or not. It's the thoughts that counts! I personally think that DBSK did well.
As for Seo Taiji.. YES, he was in a band. "난 알아요" was sang by him and his boys. Period.

oh yeah btw for you youngsters, H.O.T. songs were very inspiring, because of the lyrics. They would sing about stopping the violence, drugs, and suicide among the young students. For DBSK fans out there, you can't compare their style of music with current day's music, because that's like comparing Beetles with today's music genre. Trend of the music will always change, so later on DBSK music style will become obsolete after few years too by newer popular idol groups fans.

agree. i am a HUGE fan of DBSK, but i know how much dbsk admire H.O.T.. JAEJOONG loves KANGTA from what i know. AND many of dbsk fans who live in asia would probably know more about dbsk and hot.. (like me) and all SM old stuff..like shinwha and all that.

I think it's more like you can't see how any boy band can come CLOSE to the impact H.O.T has made. If H.O.T was to seriously stayed together til now, I don't think Shinhwa; DBSK; Big Bang or any other boy band would even have a chance to rise. Especially how they managed to pull of 45,000 people to their last concert?

DBSK pulled 100,000 in their Japanese live tour in 2 nights. and that's the power of the Japanese fans alone. H.O.T. is a legend. And DBSK isn't trying to be like them. they're doing great on their own, on their way to become a legend in Asia as well. and DBSK also pulled 60,000 people their 2nd and 3rd album showcases.

I guess you haven't listen to songs like Love in the Ice,Rainy Night or Bolero when you said that their songs don't have meaning.
DBSK do write a few songs. Such as, Rainy night (Xiah), Kiss the Baby Sky(Micky), Spokesman(Yunho) , Evergreen (Max and Micky)
I don't think they're a joke, if they were, they won't be the NUMBER 1 boy band in ASIA and also, in the guiness world record book with the largest fanclub in the world.

You see if korea had as much access (internet) to the world as now, i wouldn't be surprised if H.O.T. made highest fanclub count in the world like DBSK did. People can deny this, because DBSK fans are way too young to really know who h.o.t. was. It was H.O.T. who really made SM ent. known around the asia continents as of today. They were one of the few who were han ryu, & sold 1 million album. Their MV was on MTV (U.S.) awards back in the days.

OMG. This was one of my faves from Chotti!! DBSK did pretty well, but of course, they didn't do it the way H.O.T. did. Nobody can. lol. Originals are always best. (Well... Whitney Houston's version of Dolly Parton's song is a very rare exception...!!)

I think they changed the song around to fit their vocals more. H.O.T. had their own way of singing this song then, that did give it a different edge. Though the way TVXQ did the song makes it easier for me to sing it. xD

i am a diehard dbsk fan and i watched this vid first, then compared it with the original...and i have to say that the original was better. i love the dbsk's vocals a lot more...but H.O.T's was more..spirited? it felt a lot more alive to me. i guess this song just doesn't fit their voice that's all.

i think comparing HOT and DBSG, DBSG's singing skills are much better since they are also known as acapella group as well. But I think because of that, We Are the Future's edgeness disappeared which makes this particular song better.
