I adjust mine by loosening the bait adjuster as loose as it will go with no left/right play in the spool and leave it there for all lures. But I have a very educated thumb from 40 years of using bait casters. I will tighten it a little more if I'm throwing into the wind. Someone just learning should adjust the reel just how he tells it. If you still birdsnest tighten the bait adjuster were you have to lightly bounce the tip of the rod and the bait drops a foot or two and stops on it's own.
Thank you very much for the video! Very informative! One question though: when you are casting, do you keep your thumb on the spool or do you let it free spin?
i need some help, my reel gets backlash at the begining of the cast. lure gets 10 feet then makes a loop and stops leting line out. 20lb braid,6.6 med rod, abugarcia revo sx
@LTP1996 I get them on braid all the time, What you have to do is keep tugging the line off the spool without letting the looped area tighten up around the line you're letting out, They happen due to the lie being twisted, Make sure you spool your reels correctly to avoid the twist. To get rid of it make sure the line does NOT tighten, If you just tug it you will lose the amount of line up to where the knot is
@Slyraider100 ok, thanks for the tip. BUT, this hapens when i am casting. when i make a cast it dosent go veary far, it rats nest mid cast and the luer stops.
Here's something I'm mystified with about baitcaster, someone help me: I'm about to make the big step to a baitcaster and have heard that it would be wise to buy one that has a left hand crank (like a spinning reel - I'm right handed of course). Is that a good idea? or does reeling w/ your right hand become second nature eventually? I can see it being pain in the ass to cast w/ my left, or cast with the right and switch to the left to retrieve - plz help
@mackles i know exactly what u mean, when i use a spinning reel i cast with my right and reel with my left. when i use a baitcaster i also cast with my right, but the crank is on the right side so i am forced to switch hands and reel with my right. personally, it is actually quite comfortable and once u get the hang of it it will feel completely normal and easy to do. trust me, just practice switching hands.
@thefuckingman4567 you release the button with your thumb, when you cast you let the spool go with your thumb. Then stop the spool with your thumb just before it hits the water.
this guy really does "explain" how to do it. instead of other people talking at 100 mph in a 30 second video, he takes time to explain it nice video man. ***** five stars :)
I'll give it another go with my baitcast using your tips which really look good-I kept getting my reel tangled then took it off and bought a spinning reel which really stunk big time-theres no better feel than a baitcast reel-I'll take it from the mothballs and try your tips-thanks mate!
