  • the name of the song 2:11 pleaseeeeee....I ask you

  • IS THIS SIMILAR TO GUANTANAMO????

  • THIS IS MY SECOND FAVORITE SCENE. MY FIRST FAVORITE IS WHEN BRAD DAVIS TACKLES THE RAPIST BODYGUARD INTO THE WALL AND HIS HEAD IS IMPALED!

  • How does one download this movie as clear of a picture as on You Tube?

  • @56anthonyp1 With a torrent, message me if you need help. Also, the entire movie "Midnight Express" is posted on YouTube for free. I just watched about the first 5 minutes of it, I've seen it several time though.

  • And Max? What happens to Max?He dies?

  • that movie is so Great Movie The story Is Nice The Actor is not bad the Turk Ppl is Really Peace Of Shits and this movie is clearing the injustice in turkey from more than 30 years ago and how this country was shit Country

  • @MURDORER1 Hah hah hah haaaaa, you will carry drug and you will not be punished hah hah haaa.İs it in your garbage egypt like that ? You dont punish the people who sells the drug and all your egyptian people use drug. You moron...

  • Brad Davis really was one hell of an actor- raw talent!

  • One of the darkest scenes in movie history, period.

  • he should taken the knife and carved out rifki's throat... avenge Max's cat.... :(

  • @84benfiquista He does rip out the tongue from the snitch, he does spit out the tongue that belong to the snitch

  • @84benfiquista He does spits out the tongue from this guy that is a snitch

  • and what does he bite? his teeth?what does he spit out?

  • The ecstasy in his face from 2:19 onward scene is amazing

  • The actor who played Billy Hayes was physically and sexually abused when he was a child, and had struggled with alcohol and drug addiction throughout his life. This was not just acting. The anger inside of him must have made it that much easier to pull of this scene.

  • O.O WOW and I think that I do damage when I'm angry. WoW...had to remember that this was acting because I almost forgot.

  • This is probably one of the most disturbing scenes in a non horror movie that I've ever seen.

  • What captivates my conscience the most about this scene is its realism in presenting a rather accurate take on what a scarcely traceable fine line there is which weakly separates sanity from insanity. It's much too real for my viewing tastes. I say that because I've been there and whoever wrote this scene into the movie knows far more about surrealistic psychoses than he'd likely want to share. Ahh yes, I can see a maniacal psychotic from miles away.

  • Film RACISTE, TURCOPHOBE, INSULTANT LE PEUPLE TURC. ..J appel TF6 a donner des EXCUSES aupres du peuples TURCS, et les Turcs qui vivent en FRANCE.

ALAN PARKER, laisse le cinema c'est pas pour toi.

  • Wow did that really happen

  • @Tristina143 The trailer said that it was based on a true story...D: I know they change some things but I'm guessing after what he went through, something like this did actually happen.

  • @LemitriDawkins "based on a true story" can mean anything from a direct translation to basically have everything wrong for drama/other reasons. It's probably the last in this case. Just look at the end of this movie, does the death of the abusive cop come off as believeable?

  • One of the all-time best revenge scenes.

  • The police spoke with an American accent. In fact, they are Americans..

  • Can some one explain what exactly went on with Rifki. I saw this movie so many years ago. I know that he told a like or something, but what exactly happened.

    Thanks

  • HASKI TRIBUNAL.

    Hm...Interesting...THE HAGUE TRIBUNAL, LOL!

I'm watching this, and the only first association that comes to mind is..This is Croatia after being constantly maltreated, abused and insulted for years now.

Over and over, and over, and over again. With such disgusting obvious favoritistic insinuations, false accusations, and plain and simple abuse of a nation, simply for the perversion of Hague Tribunal. The same Hague, which just watched thousands massacred in Srebrenica and did nothing

  • this scene is a perfect portrayal of a mans final moments of his slippery grip on sanity and the point at which he must act against something that he absolutely refuses to stand for...in other words fuck all the RIFKI's of the world and take this as an example of what may come =p. beautiful scene

  • Rifki is Paolo Bonacelli

  • This scene is pure "amazing and outstanding acting"!!!!!!

  • The true character contradicted the movie. Go watch "Midnight Express truth revealed by Alinur Part-1" ^.^'

  • This is one of the most striking and brilliant scenes I've ever seen. The performance is outstanding and the atmosphere is very achieved.

    Poor Rifki, by the way...

  • @diegoheco :

Poor Rifki?!? I bet you haven't seen the entire movie...

  • Hey, Zoetepasweiden! If there are unreleased scenes, I didn't notice. Are you hinting Rifki doesn't die after that brutal thrashing?

  • @diegoheco Rifki? Rifki who? Have you read the book? I don't remember any

Rifki in the true story. It's Hollywood!

  • @diegoheco :

I don't know if he died or not, but in this movie Rifki was a first class betrayer. The prison director was always on Rifki's side, so Rifki's inmates got all the punishments (mostly they got hit by a stick under their feet, over their whole body, raped and/or humiliated by the prison director). Rifki always got rewards, he has never been punished. The director believed that Rifki always spoke the truth and that his inmates always lied to him.

  • @Zoetepasweiden

Rifki is the best example of a backstabber son of a bitch. Actually, my friends and I use the word "rifki" as an insult.

I wrote "poor Rifki" with irony. He is a fucking judas and the thrashing he got fell short.

    Puto rifki de mierda!

  • dear mmorrison or whatever muppet you are,i have travelled all over turkey and i have 23 stamps on my passport, loveliest people in the world best food ever!!!!

  • why does he beat up Rifki in the first place?

  • Midnight Express, a great movie. Proud main sponsor: The Turkish National Board of Tourism.

  • thats a one hello of a movie

  • LOVE that scene!

  • I am sure they had to catch that gloomy mood and give that depressive situation with these kind of scenes.

Shouldnt take offence as Turkish people. Everyone knows that here is a heaven of holiday. At least we are having millions of tourist everyyear that didn't get effected by this kind of movies.

And all those people who got themselves into trouble , don't worry , our prisons are modern exceedingly ( ! ) .

Never understand why is this prejudice to Turkey.

This is my home! Get it?

  • And to think that this movie was based on a true story.

  • If you haven't been then don't go to turkey, I've seen some fucked up stuff over there. Apart from it being very dangerous with all the sleazy Turks, the food is horrible and the hotels are filthy. Turkey is a horrible country and it should be destroyed, Turks are so embarrassed of this film that they tried to ban it.

  • @mmorrison69

Now ım sure that one turk are fucking your mather.. thats why you put a lot comments like that :)) ı've been in paris bruxelles london amsterdam etc. ı saw there sooo much dangerous places... more then İstanbul.. what do you talking about cock soker!! you are any fucking armenian?

  • @mmorrison69 embrassed? any criminals who brings drugs should be executed...people like you who thinks that those criminals are good people should also executed...turkey is a strict country when it comes about drugs...

  • @mmorrison69 "If you haven't been then don't go to turkey, I've seen some fucked up stuff over there. Apart from it being very dangerous with all the sleazy Turks, the food is horrible and the hotels are filthy. Turkey is a horrible country and it should be destroyed" did you lost your tongue? is that the reason that you cant taste the food? i bet you ate only dog craps...dumbass...keep those lying propaganda for yourself...

  • I would to like to know what is the turkish song played in background in this scene.

It can be heard in 2:08 until 2:47

    Thanks!

  • Hey,people!Easy,it`s not about the Tursk, this scene is about art.Simple,it`s priceless...Point essence on acting,atmosphere,power,express...Get it?

Cheers to all people who enjoy this scene!

  • hi from turkey, not from the prison:)

their accent is so bad. like italians speak in turkish...

  • @satnutladias BTW this movie was filmed 1978 in a Turkish hotel near Antalia. It`s amazing how much your hotels look like prisons. We have a saying,: 'If you going on holiday in Turkey, only one-way ticket is guaranteed'

  • Holy shit this movie is so unsettling, it's crazy!

  • turks are so worried about their image...such insecure people

  • their turkish is sooo fake

  • Well part to this film is true but 2 scenes are ficcion, the rape and the kill to the captain to the jail, well terrible movie, but was true, a few years ago, Bill Hayes back to Turkey and then he apologized to the turkish people in 2007.

Billy Hayes was younger, he was guilty, well we leave a lesson and proube of life.

  • @guyejones You do realize that he admitted he didn't like that way the film portrayed Turkey's image, or the Turks.

  • angleable1 Ohh yeah thats why they killed so many bulgarians, greeks and armenians, case they're nice people.... no.. case they're really nice people

  • @angleable1 This is not about a tourist visiting Turkey in 2010 or working in the airforce in Turkey. OFCOURSE it's nothing like in this movie. Did you even watch it?

  • relax its a movie..a 1978 movie at that.

good thing it's not about mexican-americans..lol

  • PLEASE WATCH MY REMIX OF THE THEME OF THE MOVIE THE CHASE, A CLASSIC OF ELECTRO MUSIC

  • @angleable1 AH, now I see my mistake. You're a silly drippy girlie who's spent her life being beaten around the head with English dictionaries by her boyfriends. I only joined youtube a couple of months ago, never knew ot was so much FUN! Cretins innumerable to insult. LOVE IT! Keep it up, baby...

  • @guyejones oh, sweet mercy...please don't kill me. Really, I'm messing my pants.

  • @angleable1 For your information, moron, I am English. And as for being 'hippocratic', I'm a racist, not a doctor. Buy an English dictionary (if you can pronounce that to the bookseller), then go squeeze your boils in your bedsit. And find yourself a girlfriend. I find it rather splendid I've annoyed you.

  • @guyejones Oh yeah, I love Turks. Especially the fascism, the death penalty for smiling in the afternoon, the undrinkable water supply, the poverty, the garlic... If it's such a splendid place to reside perhaps you'd care to explain why so many of the greasy twats hook up with brain-dead female holidaymakers in order to secure themselves British citizenship? I await your answer with something vaguely approaching interest...

  • @angleable1 First & foremost, I think you should learn to write English. Your spelling & grammar are cretinous at best. Kindergarten stuff. Woeful.Second, he was in the wrong, got himself out of it then wrote a book which was, as with Papillon and I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang, over-dramatized by Hollywood. Who gives a fuck about THAT? Fact: the bloke was brutalized by a fascist system & emerged STILL a human being. Ever read the book, cocksucker? Thought not. Fuck you & your moralizing.

  • Puttnam told me they hada big discussion on set about how grim this scene was but its my favurite bit aoart fronm the court address where he slates the evil turk judges

  • reminds me of tyler beating jack at the end of fight club.

  • I read an interview that Billy Hayes gave once and he said that although a lot of the film was factual this attack was not an he was pulled off after throwing a few punches .. He also had a Homosexual affair with the guy he pushes away in the shower scene .. biggest difference was that after the asylum he transferred to an island whereby he escaped in a fishing boat and rowing to the mainland through a storm .. But I remember the first time I saw this it blew me away .. what a great film !!!

  • The entire movie was filmed in Malta, not in Turkey.

  • Rifki you got knock the fuck out!!!!!!!!! son! word!!!!

  • villiam hiynz, love it when he kills that sweaty screw, send me this vid please

  • even though this scene is untrue from what reality, this is one of the greatest moments of movie history causing so many different emotions to flood through you. alan parker and oliver stone has done a great job and i have no idea why brad davis wasn't nominated for his portrayal. what a waist.

  • the warden should of got a grammy he was awesome!!!

  • best part of the movie !

  • too bad this whole thing is fake.

  • Funny how some of you really say this is what turks deservedd.. I ronicallly the bitch american who was the inspiration for the movie (Billy Hayes) also apologised for Lying about some of the scenes,, INFRONT OF THE TURKISH PARLIAMENT AND HIS OWN JUST A FEW YEARS BACK.. Especially thiss. It never happened.. Nor did it happen in his book so yee soory to busrt your bubble ppl

  • Rifki is a bastard, he got revenge for his two friends.

  • rifkyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

  • I was shocked to learn that the actor of Rifki is the same actor of The Duke in Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom XD

  • even thought im greek and i sould be ''satisfied'' by the depiction of turks in the movie... i wonder how Oriver stone desided to depict turks as monsters!!!

they dont exist bad or good nations.. we are all the same people... i tottaly understand the turkish complains about that wovie!!! and i support them!!!

  • Midnight Express or Shawshank Redemption?

  • @conzalez94 midnight express

  • c'est mon passage préferer (a part la fin) comment il pette un cable !

et Rifki l'as bien chercher , sherr !!!!

  • is this movie worth 2 buy?

  • yep

  • yes...heavy and amazing at the same time. There is a scene when Billy ask desperately for his girlfriend's breast. Shocking. :D

  • Here is a question

Which role better captured the essence of a man trapped physically and mentally and trying to maintain a tiny grasp on his humanity and sanity

    Billy Hayes in Midnight Express

     or

R.P MacMurray (Jack Nicholson) in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest?

  • @channel...good question...both characters were immersed in a harsh environment...but i think billy, more so than mac, depicted the frustration inherent in his situation...i mean, billy's outbursts (like the one in this scene) really show the sense of desperation within him, whereas, even though mac was suffering as well, mac played it off w/ a lot of humor, so it wasn't as apparent...billy more overtly displayed his feelings of being trapped..but yeah, they both did what they could to stay sane

  • damn rifki YOU GOT KNOCK THE F#CK OUT!! lol lol!!

  • Comment removed

  • why read a book when you can watch it on tv

  • that fucking grass deserved it!go on billy!

  • Can someone please tell me why the West is nice and other worlds are bad???

  • ... not so much West is nice and "other' worlds bad...more a grey area....in other words, which 'world' allows a fairly sensible (yes, I know, what does "sensible" mean) progression of the of rule of law.....people tend to like to know if there is rule which is being followed...and in this movie...well...I am afraiid, everything is quite arbitrary.

  • @ groupfannynits

there are loads of movies about prisons in the west too...

  • @groupfannynits

    Certainly. Racist misinformation.

The West has Rendition and Guantanamo, but they don't like talking about THAT.

  • @groupfannynits Yeah, Cos we're Christian!! Christ, Love and Democracy. The way God intends it to be!! xx

  • its no a matter of good or bad, its a matter of civilization. actually i m from greece

  • Hard to believe that Hollywood can produce such a masterpiece.

  • THIS IS ONE SICK MOVIE FOR ITS TIME...

  • IT`S A REAL STORY!

  • The scariest movie I have ever watched.

    Ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the climax at the end brought me to tears.

  • best scene in the film

  • EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!

  • the most intense movie scene I ever witnessed in my life

  • NO sorry IT IS a true story. Read the book, its much better than the movie and it tells MUCH MUCH more on how he escaped. The way he escaped in the flick never happened. It took him months to do so

  • What a fucking powerful scene

  • One of the most true violent scenes ever.

  • my dad said the whole cinema applaused in this scene LOL

  • Fuckin` Rifki deserved beatings:)

  • this is lie !

  • what is lie?:)

  • this film's content

  • @tripatbrain everything about turkey have you ever seen turkey?

  • Is not a LIE!, is just fiction. The book "Midnight express" is a Autobiography and the movie is a almost complete different story.

i´m agree with that Rifki deserved that...(Sorry for my english, i´m learning right now.

  • thanks god somebody beat the hell out of the Duc de Blangis!
