Although it was never confirmed the theory was that there was some oil that leaked from a previous run by another onto the track. The racer was extremely experienced and did not create the accident by his own error.
i am guessing he hit the brakes to hard a they locked up just long enough to slid and lose control. same thing happened to my sister at he FIRST drag race. She didn't have a roll cage but only broke her thumb.
