  • 3 Dislikes? what the fuck, it does what it says, like the geezer said, charisma is multi lingual, he is a legend , peace out!

  • Brando is part french. He sounds like Pierre Elliot Trudeau when he speaks.

  • marlon brando speaking french. that's by far the sexiest thing i've seen, as far as men are concerned. Ever.

  • @Yodavid1 You should see him Tango in a movie with Sophia Loren. The movie was awful but I still remember that tango at the end.

  • poderoso chefao

    nota •

  • she looked good from afar

  • sexy,sexy!!!

  • Because he spoke a few words quickly, you think he was fluent.Nonsense!I can hear clearly that he could speak only very rudimentary French.About as well as I did after about 5 or 6 months in France. The only famous American I have ever heard speak decent French was Jane Fonda.

  • @watayapupuya add jodie foster to this list.

  • @watayapupuya then you never heard Jodie Foster speak french ;)

she sounds like a real parisian, lol

  • @GARLlCjr Yes she actually used to dub her movies into French, and she played a French person (in French) in "A Very Long Engagement"

  • @watayapupuya Jodie Foster

  • thats pretty cool

  • It would have been nice to have met the Brando family just to talk to them (not marry them or anything). Brando has a very broad , yet, carefully selected range of interests. Very sensitive w/out the need to be "alpha on meth". He is rare in that he had a awkwardness and certainty. He held no pretensions about his craft, nor show business. You can tell that in court when testifying for Chistian that this truly broke his heart at this point in his life. He wasn't acting for the court.

  • I love how many hollywood actors are fluent in French. Marlon, Jodie Foster, Steve Martin, John Malkovich......

  • @Daviysoh Fluent in French?...Bullshit!!

  • Brando makes me proud to be French...

  • @TheNiktendo

No, but you sure talk a lot of shit.

  • when he turns his head to the side in the beginning.. he looks exactly like brad pitt. seriously.. thats freaky

  • i would kill to be the woman he hits on. would love him to call me 'jolie'.

  • Quel pretentious. Still, he might make more sense in French. They mumble, too.

  • Brando also mastered french fries.

  • @twilightzonicstars ,,, love it!

  • @twilightzonicstars And French kisses

  • His real name was Marlon Brandeau.

  • @95gsx brandau - german

  • Does he have an American accent?

  • @maxdelbruck It's very light, you can tell he isn't native, but you can also tell he speaks it well.

  • @maxdelbruck

unlike many American he is able to pronounce the french "r"

  • @gipcambero This is sadly true my friend re:Americans. I was horrible in French and was taught since the age of 5 & one would think that I would have become mildly fluent. But no. I fancy listening to the sweet roll of the mother tongue of Parisians. I admire the language. I believe French is not taught very well in American as there are very few "French" instructors actually teaching the language. Learning a language should be fun. They teach French here the way the teach algebra.

  • how un-"american"

  • he speaks better french than english haha

  • @havit94

That would hardly be difficult to acheive

  • oh how existential. ooh la la

  • Well he lived in Tahiti. Last I heard French is spoken in Tahiti

  • Wow I didn't know Beyonce was alive then.

  • @DiverseLA LOL Beyonce! I don't see the Beyonce resemblance but she is pretty and shapely.

  • le parrain

  • lol it's funny how the dont translate what he says about the woman.

  • marlon brando, denzel washington, and i cant think of any one else in their class. nope

  • Holy jeez, what a rack on that broad.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain yeah id put it in her butt

  • ive lot all respect for him now.. french speaking is evil

  • Wow, amazing he still looked handsome at this older age. =)

  • wow was he handsome!!

  • Il parle bien! Je l'aime.

  • What's Beyoncé doing there, sneaking in with her Foxxy Cleopatra impression, the cheeky camera-shy mare.

  • Charisma has no language.

  • what a man. hahaha sigh

  • what an interesting clip...it's such a joy to see an articulate, educated and interesting american actor, so outspoken about civil liberties and humanitarian issues...he simply didn't kowtow to the press or anyone. this is the type of entertainer we should attempt to emulate. much respect.

  • Actually isn't Jodie Foster's bro but her older sister who lived in Paris for years... She have moved in the Toulouse region (south of France) years ago where she was an English teacher.

As Jodie she has been a student in the Lycee Francais in Los Angeles, with... Miko Brando (Marlon's son)... Little world.

  • Love the way he talk to the girl ! This guy could get all the girl he wante,d i wish i have his charisma ...

  • Didn't he learn French when he lived in Tahiti for two years? I don't think he could speak it when he was a teenager or young adult.

  • he certainly had his eyes on that lady and just brought her right on camera into the interview, lol

  • Ooops... no translation of what she said... hmmm I wonder why ?

  • Marlon Brando is partly French, his real name is Brandeau, a typical French name.

  • @alexandreleverrier

actually its originally BRANDAU.. a german name, his ancestry is german, dutch english and irish. his paternal ancestors arrived in america from Pflatz in Germany and were called BRANDAU.

  • @dmcvh I read it on wikipedia so I can't be sure.

  • "Are you Marlon Brando? "

  • Negroes, LOL.

  • "Are you Marlon Brando?"........as if this wasn't staged

  • staged!

  • of course he is, afterall last tango in paris is almost entirely in french

  • So great, Brando best actor ever

Wow !

  • Wow Woow I loved him for being a great actor , loved him more for being an activist , loved him better for his sooo hot looks & physique ,fell for him for being an Arian ; now I know he was fluent in French What could I do ... :(( ??? is theresomething in presenyt time like him ?? R.I.P Marlon .

  • I wonder what ever became of that woman and her child. This footage is from over 40 years ago.

  • that woman walking the baby is hott.

  • That looked like Central Park West in NYC. Wonderful footage, wonderful content.

  • beautiful video ... beautiful woman... beautiful purpose

  • I don't know Brando all that much.

I'm impressed to hear him say that we all have a responsability in progress, not just the government.

That's now what I'm hearing out of Hollywood these days.

he,s a legend no one can reach his status

  • His people are French (Brandeau) so it really shouldn't that much of a surprise.

  • Comment removed

  • Brando came from "BRANDAU", which is German. His ancestor Johann Wilhelm Brandau, moved to New Amsterdam, NY from Pfalz, Germany.

  • I thought he was also French Huguenot.

  • @magsasaka1960 I heard his ethnicity is Dutch/Irish.

  • god, she's SEDUCTIVE!!

  • Brando was a gorgeous man. He was really into that girl. LOL

  • whoah BRando speaks french!!!!!!!!! I had no clue...My native language is french. I love you brando

  • @ninalabelle2005 Brando was not only sexy as hell with a perfect face and physique, he was THE best at his craft and spoke 5 languages. The man was incredible! Have you seen the segment of this film where he speaks in German? I was blown away! He reportedly spoke Tahitian better than his half-Tahitian children wh grew up in Tahiti! He lived a remarkable life to say the least.

  • @ninalabelle2005.i wonder where he actually learned it.jodie foster is simply amazing when she speaks french, she sounds just like a french person!her brother lives and work in paris and she use to spend her summers there.i don t get how she got to speak french so perfectly tho,she even uses french slang!check french interview jodie foster the brave one.impressive.

  • @diztanguy marlon brando is actually from french ancestry with his real name being Brandeaux and only being shortened to Brando on arrival in the united states, it is possible he learnt it through his family?

  • @diztanguy

He said he had to learn it because he was frustrated not being able to follow the conversations when speninf an extended period of time in France. It's definitely not from his family. As for Jodie Foster, didn't she study in a boarding school in Switzerland or something?

  • @ninalabelle2005 I think he was french descendant

  • @ninalabelle2005 He says a couple of things in Last Tango in Paris too.

  • @ninalabelle2005 Yes, of course. Many years ago, he was in a film called, "Mutiny on the Bounty" and he met this very beautiful Polynesian woman who played his lover on the screen and later became his mistress or wife. Well, Brando, get this Ms. Ninalabelle, BOUGHT an Island in Polynesia . He BOUGHT an Island and has lived on this island most of his remaining life. Polynesians are also of French decescent and so , yes, he would speak French as a result. He is a true renaissance man! Kewl huh?;-)

  • Brando was once married to a Tahitian woman who spoke French, thus he learned it out of love ;)

  • never knew how smart he was.. gorgeous, intense and talented yes.......but fluent in several languages.......What can I say? I like it

  • You took the words out of my mouth!

  • Marlon Brando, wonderful !

    Superbe et unique.

  • He was very sexy and charming!

    I think He was amazing!

  • wow - he like speaks french and he can like talk to people, like about their feelings and have like, empathy and stuff... thats just soooo amazing...

  • you say "like" too much!

  • What an Intelligent, Honest, Good and Gentleman He Was...

    and off course great Actor.

I've seen a lot of Interviews and he never wanted to talk about film or acting, He was always talking about Science Philosophy... and Always very curious of different subjects and issues.

  • very well... no problem ! it's amazing...

  • Aw he was way adorable! :D

  • that black girl looks like beyonce...when beyonce was in dreamgirls

  • Contrary to the general view, Brando was of

french ancestory on his father's side. I recall

his original name as Brandeu, or something close.

  • You're right!

    Brandeau indeed! ;)

    He's also Irish.

  • no he was of german ancestory. the original name was "brandau" fro bavaria

  • @michaels7 He was French, Irish, Swiss and Prussian which is an ethnic group from modern-day Germany.

  • anyone know the date of this footage??

  • The song is called: Windmills of your mind sung by many including Sting but check:Thomas Crown affair-theme song on youtube.

  • Marlon spent a lot of time in Tahiti, where the native language is French. That's probably where he learned to speak French so well.

  • Very interesting. What's the song being played at the end called?

  • I love the way that at the start of the clip he listening with his face on one side. So cute.

  • WOAW!

  • Well, if you watch Last Tango in Paris, he speaks French in there, too.

  • Yeah, he's sexy but he's even SEXIER when he speaks French.

  • I realized he was fluent when that heart-breaking footage of him testifying for his son in France was shown for all to see on television years ago. Maybe his later years would have been a little different career-wise, if that stuff did not go down. Who knows? But he did some good work toward the end. Such a courageous man. RIP Great Man

  • Quite special, to hear Brando speaks French so well.

In the nineties (around 1994/95) I heard and saw Kirk Douglas speaking fluently French on a French tv show, TV 5. He was even singing in French on that! The crowd went besirk.
