I keep my guinea pigs in an empty laundry basket while I clean the cage. My larger female guinea pig easily climbed out even though the basket comes up to my knee. They really are little Houdinis!

instead of climbing over, he would lift it up with his nose and

crawl under it. I would try to stop him whenever i could

because i thought he was going to hurt himself

That cavy looks just like Chester! My Guinea Pig, he's the same breed. Did you know that MY guinea pigs Chester, Curry and Goldie escaped from their running area just like YOUR guinea pig did? The only difference was that the wall was way lower, and it was outside with lots of celery.

When they are healthy, guinea pigs are actually very athletic. Fast runners, can climb and jump to a surprising degree and they can turn in the blink of an eye. Don't let their normal sedate mannerisms and pudgy appearance fool you.

That's cute but you may want to be very careful with male guinea pigs that jump out of their cage. I had a male that could do that and he suffered a hurina and he coudnt get his private back in, so needless to say his privates were stuck out and he couldnt go to the bathroom, he passed away.

I have that same fence and my piggy Loki, he went berserk outside in the grass..he started ramming it, climbing over it, and even jumping over it.

I walked away..then I heard the grass rustle. Turns out he broke free and followed me. LOL
