Who says adults and kids can't play together?  Most every online game out there has them playing together...

I'm not sure what games your talking about... most games are either limited to adults or limited to kids. Some places like Second Life have a totally separate instance of the world for kids and adults. For a game like this with widespread general appeal to little kids, there are going to be a lot of people who see it as a hunting ground for pervs and will demand some separation.
