Sekiel this is not on itunes...I believe Quincy Jones started it and had to hand it over to some guy name kieth Diamond. I don't know all about this but I found the lyrics on lyrics.com including the video. I am crazy about it as well. I even tried to buy the CD from Amazon but couldn't find it. Let me know if you find it anywhere.
@SecondVirgin48 I surely will Im going to try hollywood next time I head in LA. If I find it just give me your email in my inbox and I'll shoot you a copy of this song. Or if I run into James Ingram himself Im begging for a copy of this joint lol lol
Damn I love this song. If I was a guy I would love to sing like him.... James can hit the high notes and the low ones. I discovered this song earlier this year watching soul train. I wonder does anybody know where I could find this song?
I heard this song in the late ninties when it rocked the Zambian air waves. I had no idea it was done in the eighties! Its a good song that has stood the taste of time. A good song will always be a good song no matter what! It breaks the barriers of language, age, and culture. For sure they dont make music as good as this these days, but they sure did.. we shall keep playing it and enjoy it to fullest. I DONT CARE WHOS TOPPING THE CHARTS WITH MONSTROUS IMAGES... I WONT MENTION THEIR NAMES... .
Timeless classic. Why can't we have more of this music these days. The kids of today don't realise what they have missed with artists like James Ingram.
this song, raises my eyebrows....remembering simplier times. you can actually hear the band's individual instruments...drums, synthesizers..missed w/ todays music
You're wrong man, sorry to inform you about that. I've got the scoop on this entire album, should have originally been produced by Quincy Jones, but he got tied up doing the music for the Color Purple soundtrack and called on very much talented and incredible music producer, the late KEITH DIAMOND a native of Tinidad, to do the deed on his behalf. James Ingram co-produced cuts on this album. Keith Diamond had produced the likes of Billy Ocean and Starpoint at that time.
ME TOO!! The bridge just sends chills through me...this "desert'-funk feel and sound of the song (along with the video) really gives the song so much life!!
Go onto my youtube channel, and listen to the vid ive got on there
lol I bet you probably think that its crap music
But to me, all my mates love it, its buzzin! energetic, the background beat is energetic! it gives you the same buzz as when your out with your mates, a sort of low social adrenaline buzz
This music however is deep and the beats have emotion the lyrics mean something, its soothing and calm, not energetic, Music's psychological
I've never heard this song before, but I like it. I have James' "Greatest Hits" CD (1991's "The Power of Great Music"), but this song isn't featured. I wish it were.
Now that I think about it though, Howard Hewett did some background on this album too. It just might be Howard on that part. Its hard to tell, El and Howard could both hit high notes like that...I used to have this album but don't anymore so can't look up the credits...
Sure, the music back then was pretty good, but I guess a lot of the complaining about today's music stems from the simple fact that us old guys have memories of our youth that we associate with those songs. That is what makes us happy, the memories.
There is still a lot of good music by young artists out there today, Corinne Bailey Rae, Conya Doss, Vivian Green, Jill Scott, etc.
OOOOHHH :( . Its so saaaad to hear that kind of lovely music because its just gone :( and never come back again. Compare of todays music withe just sex and materialistic stuff and no meanings.. LONG LIVE that times music....thanks
I agree with so many of you. This kind of music just doesn't seem to 'happen' any more in today's music scene. Why is that?! Too many Hilary Fluffs out there.
If you like this, you might also enjoy (here on YT) Maurice White singing "I Need You"; a black and white video from the 80's.
Alexander O'Neil's "If You Were Here With Me Tonight" is also very soulful and passionate.
