yeah this is good, but if you can just go to the gym and do the same with a machine at different hights is better and nothing more then 10 Kg, work on speed of the arm and torsion
@hiskas you're not considering muscle recruitment and neural adaptation to the specific movement! Of course shoulder and chest training gives more strength, but this drill can help a lot on the speed you move the arm and torso during pass!
Once the ball is very light, what you go for is speed, much more than strength (most players are more than strong enough to trow the ball pretty far, but does not have the coordination and speed to a good distant and quick pass!)

some pull ups and bench presses will do a better job on the strength part i think
