i have a mate that has the same model cr 500 believe me our bikes a neck and neck in every gear change to top gear and top speed. identical performance, actually weird how two bikes can have identical performance. there wouldnt be more the 6 inches between us through the gears, depends on who changes when... all these comments are obviously from people that have never owned or ridden such a bike lmao.sucked in fuckers.
500 i couldnt get this confirmed buy honda but would love to no as i own 1 and wanted to find out what build number mine is, as it would have to build numbers, the one from japan as a cr 500 and one as one of the converted cre's.
what a load of crap. look the CRE500 is a CR500 2001 model , honda australia couldnt sell them as everyone was going the 4stroke route and they couldnt be raced, so they contact a engineering firm and got them converted and conplianced, they put a piggy back coil on for the lights restrictors in the exhaust and that made them legal to be register in Australia the company called them selves cre engineering, ive been told they made 250 or 500
The reason why the "MYTH" that you were expecting didn't appear true, is because the CRE is restricted to absolute buggery compared to the motocross CR500R version. I know, because i have a 2001 CR500R, and these don't have carby plate restrictor, or such a restrictive exhaust etc. It looks like you've done the right thing by using the pro-circuit system. I have the same, and their great. Your right about them being collectable though. Have you seen the service honda 500AF'S?????
@vrednie They sure were restricted! The standard exhaust was one point of restriction, the other was a plate on the carby slide that stopped the carby opening more than about 1/3rd of the way. Standard I have heard them likened to a DT175 - dont know how true that it is.
@Mendooranite my honda moped has the samething done to it. removed the carb plate, its runs a lot better. still a moped though... but it still gets around
@xXsnitchyXx Hi Mate, I bought this as a long term investment that was fun to own. I had not planned on selling it for another 10 - 15 years, but if I had a good enough offer I would consider it.
Still on original bore, second piston and rings installed only about 10 hours ago. Have Book and original parts.
the cre500 wouldn't hold a candle to a cr500r.the cre500 is tamed for road use .they are both great bikes but cannot be compared to each other in stock form ,the cr500r would leave it in it's roost and then some.maybe you should ride the cr500r and i think you would find the cr500r is more than deserving of it's reputation...keep safe on that thing ha ,ha,and have fun.
@wokka02 Hi, The CRE and CRR are the same except for: restricted exhaust and a plate restricting carby slide movement. One you remove those you have the same mechanical package. Thats why I have a pro circuit system and have the plate removed. Thanks for watching.
a bit of a hooligan bike over here in england and very rarely stock,,, the tyres would be illegal and useless on the road so get changed to the motard syle wheels and tyres along with a tail.and head light for an m.o.t, probably the most fun you can have on or off the track!!!
nice bike but you shoulda fired it up ... love the noise ... mmmmusic!!!
@darkhorse1112 Yeah the rear tyre is a dirt only tyre. Has all the blinkers and headlight etc....There are other vids of the bike going - yep I love the noise! Thanks for watching
Yeah that sounds right about the CR and the KX it had all ended by 2004.
Yes I have been watching the Maico 700 with interest, if they can get the enduro version of the 700 to our shores for a reasonable price I might grab one to stick in the shed.
There are 2 on bike sales at the moment for $9500 and $10,000. They are less used than this one. I think you would be very lucky to find one under $7000 - if you do BUY IT!
Nice bike! I never realised we(aussies) got a road registable version,
I know the yanks did, and Europe allows them.. but woohoo! they ARE available down under!! If you dont mind me asking.. whats a ''good price'' for one of these!?
nice bike
