  • nice collection of monowheels, i'm building a copy of the Edison-puton mono wheel (at 2.02)

  • @john8indian I am glad you recognised that one as Edisons.

I was going to make a mention of it in the captions.

The picture is from a museum display and was the only image of that one that i could find.

It would be great to see a reproduction in action.

    Best of luck to you.

  • @Choowbz , you are right. There is one in the technik museum in Sinsheim (Germany) This is also a copy of the original one.

  • Thanks, thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening

  • which donovan album did you use?

  • Its a mixture of two tracks

An acoustic version from a concert in 1972 when he wore a blue silk shirt of stars

Blending into the popular version from the Album of Cosmic Wheels

The music fitted so well with the concept of wheels and the 12 string tinkle was so much like spokes turning

Of all of his songs this tune is my favourite

    Though 12 kingfishers comes close

  • Ah, I see. I thought it sounded a bit like a version on the Sunshine Superman docu/DVD pkg., which is my favorite rendition. I must get a twelve-string again. Thanks for your reply.

  • Pretty cool.

I have one problem with this monowheel thing.....

    you can't pop a wheelie!!!!

  • Use Skate steel for a tire and you could skate the lenth of your frozen lake in 30 seconds.

I don't think anyone has made a Skate wheel.

  • Good idea! that'd be pretty fun . I'll look into that one.

  • I've had a chance to look at some of these in action.

They all go fast and some like McLeans just want to cut loose.

They go well enough the problem is they all don't like to stop.

They are wild horses that love to chew the distance like a knife through the wind but they don't like low speed, sharp turns or stopping.

If you were to make a Skate wheel it would have no way of stopping.

Even with the break on Full the wheel would still skate with the momentum.

  • LOL...That my friend would be half the fun. I'm a full throttle skydive road race kind of guy..."never lift" is what I say. I'm sure you'd be able to attach a lever style stand alone braking system with a spiked pad to dig into the ice. Anything and everything is possible!!! I probably wouldn't bother with a brake, I'd rather go in circles until it slowed down enough to stick out my Fred Flintstone brakes.
