it was sounds like this that made me pick up the guitar, and ppl please dont diss blues rockers or other blues musicians just because this is pure Blues :)
From him comes the blues and how we pine. for so hard the sound will fly that no other will shine. Deep it finds home, in the soul you feel the shake, like the cry of thunder your soul feels awake.
AYH makes Keb Mo' sound like Perry Como. He sounds so authentic you sometimes wonder if he's miming to a 1926 Charley Patton record. He's bloody amazing.
mitch26; You are right. They all are good in their own way. Keb Mo has become alot more commercial now since Tom Jones covered his songs. I like Eric Bibb also but THIS man is the rawest, closest link to Charley Patton in the 21st Century. AYH is just damn versatile. He's done everything and he's done it so well. His version of Led Z's "Heartbreaker" is beyond belief!
TampaRed; I always wondered what Maxwell Street Jimmy sounded like and here we have the closest thing. AYH is so hard to pin down.He sounds SO authentic. He's one of the finest musicians on this planet together with David Lindley, and his vocals remind me alot of Lowell George at various times.
Alvin is out of Memphis but to my knowledge doesn't play there regularly. He recently accompanied Bo Diddley on tour, accompanying the backup band as well as stepping out for his own set. He tours regularly you might check out his myspace page.
Does anyone else think his vocals sound a bit like Howlin Wolf? :)

si tienes razon, pero no descredites a dany gatton o a los viejos blueseros tampoco, tienen habilidades, muchos quisieran tocar como ellos

I know nothing about the blues, but I've heard a lot of this guy's stuff on Pandora and I feel it in my bones.
Freaking genius.

Alvin gets overlooked, man. He's far more talented than Keb' Mo' and writes better songs. Cory Harris and Alvin are where it's at in modern Blues.

They don't call it the blues for nothin'
