if people are using pinch collars or choke collars correctly, there shouldnt be any tension on the leash when walking. They are training collars not for use in the hands of unknowledgable dog owners. If used correctly, you should enjoy walking your dog with it by your side, not pulling. It all begins with good leadership.

@Mr83Dessa You must not have a dobe or little knowledge of dogs. Dog have extremely strong necks muscles that cant even compare to a human's. And Dobermans are extremely hardy dogs, just try walking a dobe on a regular pinch collar when it see something it want, and will yank your arm out of socket. Mine just uses a pinch collar but that's because he listen to me but everyone else who walks him has to use a Spike collar otherwise there gonna get hurt pulled all over the place.

@nikigurl08 i had a lady tell me how cruel it was to use a pinch collar.., she had no frikkin idea, she told me to use food to walk it on lead. she told me she had a piece of paper proving she knew everything about dog training, but she didnt know the diff between working bloodline a show. its people like that who are destroying our dogs!!

@monki600 Yea really!! You should tell that lady that you can also get bears to come to you with food but that doesn't mean their trained! lol. Dogs can be trained with food, and it can b a good insentive but it shouldn't be a crutch in training either, as food will not fix behavior issues and dog training that uses food as crutch, will result in a dog who does not listen when there is no food!! Plus too many treats results in obesity which is a very serious issue.

@nikigurl08 i was too annoyed to come back with any constructive argument.., in australia, pinch collars are illegal, and chokers arent! i used a choker on my dog, and nearly killed him, all his fur fell out, he bleed in that area, and his eye balls nearly popped straight out its head! he would not stop pulling, soon as i got an illegal pinch, he walks like a dream, the slightest twist of my wrist, and hell slow down, i tried the pich on my thigh, and it felt like a gentle tickle..,

@cross8bones Crop the ears they hear better, which will allow for a better protection dog! Plus they just look better with the ears done otherwise they look like a hound dog. We had our done and it was well worth it!

There is sport, personal and police training. it takes a long time for the handler to become good at this kind of work and often dogs who aren't of a good working background they lack the drive and temperament to do this kind of work properly, sometimes not always.

in your interested check out these dog sports. Schutzhund, KNPV, and the European ring sports.
