Everyone SPREAD the video -- It can teach everyone a bit more about HIP HOP -- That can in turn change the way people approach those that are in their head - phones all day! <---Thats what you call wordplay in a comment. Akala Should Have Millions of VIEWS!
@Ms90sBabiix Luckily I'm still at school so I can use Akala's positive influence as an external force to make wise decisions. It's unfortunate that you couldn't, but at least you're not still at school! lol
@SplurtaBeats you're completely right, I've learnt more history from people like Akala and books he has recommended than I'm learning from my teachers and school textbooks :(
@SelinaP95 I could not agree more. If I had a teacher like that I know I would have been attending all my lesson. Maybe If I had his positive influence I would have made better and wiser choices whilst at school.
the education system is corrupt. what they teach you in history classes is painfully untrue. I hated school what they taught us was bs, and no I was not an underachiever I got very good grades. Educate yourselves people, that is true education. Don't believe everything someone tells you, read a book or find the truth for yourselves on the internet
so happy to find akala. so inspiring and intellectual, and passionate about what he does, wanting to create a positive impact through music but also just a great guy trying to make a change!
Sciencedaily(dot)com(slash)releases(slash)2012(sl)01(sl)120126152129(dot)htm Great article on how hip hop rhythm has inspired a new implant, a medical monitor that can help prevent aneurisms or incontinence due to paralysis
@TetrapakProdzekt Just because he mentioned Eminem first doesn't mean he thinks that. He mentioned him because he wanted to choose a rapper which he was sure they'd all heard about to make it interesting. Whether you like Eminem or not, (I love him personally) you cant deny he is probably the biggest rapper of all time. He was sure they knew him so he chose Eminem first for the heck of it
@thenewyardbirds Lol fair enough, but I wish they actually did teach us about life at school! At least we can celebrate the fact that there are inspirational geniuses like Akala on this planet :)
@Mjolle 'There is only one True Scotsman' fair enough slightly false as there are 5 pillars of hiphop and i only spoke on the MCing aspect, but my definition of a hiphop head is someone who knows and respects the history and the culture from how it came to be. Real recognise Real
@Tygabone Defining what a "real hiphop head" is, is in itself rather false. The beginnings of hip hop was about partying and having fun. It later grew into a form of social movement. Wordplay has been a part of it all along, more or less, but I think that pointing out what is "real" or not... is kinda counter productive.
Such a freaking legend, I learnt so much from this. I study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham (2nd in the UK for my course according to the Guardian) and not one of my lecturers can deliver like this man!
Also, on a mildly irrelevant note, his accent is my inspiration for speaking eloquently whilst retaining the ineffable London ghetto drawl. Turns out you can't syncopate every word lol.
@DrDread Hey! Awesome, I'm from Nottingham Malaysia Campus, and he's also my inspiration to talk proper English ( by proper I mean not an ugly accent, cos here in my country the english is skewed by the malaysian accent)
@SelinaP95 School doesn't attract people like this they are few, i had a few teachers like this and they were always the least favorite of the school it seemed. they would stray from the lesson plan and actually teach you something about life. then they got disciplined. lol
@thenewyardbirds Unbelievably true - our education system is becoming more like the justice system - all my best teachers have now been dismissed - they dont want teachers to really teach, just look like they are.
His points about Wu Tang are really interesting. People with lyrics so complex and thought provoking used top charts... I reccomend people who are interested in this point watch his interview on Russia Today where he discusses the causes in detail.
Amazing stuff right here.

Some people listen to hiphop because they think its cool or hip, but real hiphop heads love the lyricism and wordplay
