  • the best way to prepare those i found from many top chefs is to first de shell them from the pod don't do anything else then boil them for one minute in salty water ,you want the water to taste as salty as ocean water. take them out and then de-shell the actual pod from the casing surrounding the pod,(the inner pod should be much greener) then put them in a bowl and top themwith some unfiltered italian extra virgin olive oil and top with salt and pepper. believe me you will enjoy them very much.

  • Thanks for the cooking ideas for Fava!

  • lol at first i thought you had an irish accent

  • thanks for the info!

  • NICE GARDEN...........

  • you can remove bitterness by peeling skin off (fava beans)

  • I would like to see more from you. Most interesting and informative. I'm going to try both cartooms and fava beans next season. Thank you so much!

  • Thank you so much! First time growing them in Denver, CO. They look REALLY healthy at about 3 inches.

  • That is true, Michigan has poor soils, and is prone to droughts that last a month at a time. Also, I do not water. One of the beauties of favas is they do well even in poor soils, and though I do not water the yields are good.

  • the soil is very poor and needs more water !
