Classic 80's Fantasy/Action/Grindhouse film. HIGHLANDER is one of the best! Christopher Lambert is totally under rated.

Why Highlander is gay:

This is probably over-interpreting, but if you look at the fact that McLeod is banished because he is 'different' and curses Ramirez and thinks their immortality is the Devil's work: This might be an (anal)ogy (*LOL) for homosexuality. McLeod cant accept it. Why is there no female immortals? Then theres Ramirez' girly outfit, Garfield who thinks McLeod is gay, and Mercury & co. doing the (btw great) soundtrack.

@qqqdfn I was just reading the Wikipedia article about the Immortals; I think there was a quote from the director or something saying that there were fewer female Immortals because it'd be harder for them to fight and survive as long as the male ones did.

@Ant42Lee Haha. Hmm... yeah, I guess that makes sense. I've just read that article, too. Quite interesting reading. It tries to answer a lot of questions :D I've never seen the TV-series and only the first three movies. I think , like most people, that the sequels are really crappy and no female immortals appear in those movies. Thanks for the tip by the way :D

i read, that roxanne heart thought about taking a body double for the love scenes ( is she totally insane ? 1985 /86 i was about 16 years old . i could have been a good body double for her :-) ) but then she did it by herself . in the german version (i`m german, that`s the reason for my bad english :-( ) i don`t remember love scenes that made a body double necessary , does anyone ?

@Rocafile it is all in the movie, believe me, i cut the fan trailer "Highlander (1986) Trailer", it was never released in a cut version.

Yeah, there are no scenes at all that I don't recognize.

Seem to recall the US version of the movie was initially released theatrically with a few scenes missing, such as the WW2 flashback, and also a shortened final battle with the Kurgan, so maybe some scenes from the latter hadn't been seen by some US viewers...?
