hey all you have to do is connenct the e brake wire to ground theres no need for a relay just connect it to somthing metal thats the way i have it much easyer i think..
hey please i connected my pyle indash dvd PLBT74G everything connected right added the pink wire called lamp in so i can watch dvd and the brown parkin brake to the ground to watch dvds while driving , but the front buttons of the unit have to be illuminated blue color and they are not illuminated they are off, what should i do to have the front buttons of the unit illuminated how they supposed to look wit light blue color?
@asianjack I basicly cut the wirs from the head unite, installed the rlay then add the the harnes addaptor. That way you can install the headunit in aother vehicle and still have the relay.
In the video I left the wires connected to the vehicl harness just for simplicity.

Just bought the avh p3300bt and followed this step by step, everything works perfect ! thanks this really really helped, couldnt have done it any better !
just wondering though, why does the relay have 5 prongs but only 4 of them are used??? i was affraid to use a 4 prong relay and screw something up lol thanks again
@jacoblombardo Glade you like the video and it helped you out! The relays are used in many other aplications, that require the other prongs. I am not sure if the 4 prong ones would work.
Is Pioneer different from others? On my Kenwoods I've always just grounded the parking wire. The wire on my unit is a 12v ground so when the parking brake is engage it grounds the parking wire allowing the video to play. By simply grounding the e-brake wire coming from the back of the head unit, wouldn't that give you the same effect, or is Pioneer a different design?
@carlosg815 Pioneer makes it so you have to engage the ground every time. So, simply just grounding it won't work. The relay acts like a switch the grounds the wire after the unite is on.
@jose38957 You can get them on eBay for around $5 or Dealextreme for about $2.50, but they are on the cheap side. I went to my local electronics store. Radioshack, The Source, places like that. I ended up paying $15 but the quality was there. Since you spent the money on a video head unite you should spend the money on a quality relay.
@Varmitslayers I don't see why it wouldn't. The relay acts like a switch, same as if you put your e-brake on, except with out you actually having to do any thing.

do you hook up those wires to the relay and not the harness. or do you just splice them?

Why do you want to watch TV in your car? Too much money and too much time on your hands. Hey every thought about joining the Army?

@2012goingNutz Really... did you see the car I installed it in... don't you think if I had loads of money, I would be driving something better?

and about the relay what was it specific to? I went to autozone and there is from radiator cooling fan one to a fast idle? or does it not matter? :p
FissaTION 3 weeks ago
@FissaTION It's more of an elactrinics relay, as long as it has the right pins... you should be good.
What8Really 3 weeks ago
hey when you did the ground why did you use two grounds? I cant really visualize it in my head. its just the same ground wire put in two slots? Oo
FissaTION 3 weeks ago
@FissaTION To be honest I'm not sure why it's done this way. That's just the way I leaned it.

if you have an amplifier for subs or what not, do you have to run the remote to the relay and the remote wire for the amp?
tykauai 1 month ago
@tykauai Yes, I jut split my remot wire into two, one to the relay and the other to the amp.
