I just can't believe anyone would watch a sitcom and expect to see real bellydance. They could pay for a real bellydancer or they can pay for a hot up and coming actress... On top of that, people seem to have a hard time paying quality bellydancers what they're worth. You get what you pay for...

Helen, while it was a great performance I agree that Catherine's belly dance was really done just for the purpose of exciting, teasing and seducing men. If you want to see a really good portrayal of American belly dance, type in "Bogart's Face" and pull up the first link, Kamala's movie debut in The Man With Bogart's Face. You've GOT to be kidding me. I watched it and hated it. The guys were putting money inside of the dancers' bras like they were strippers. And FYI, none of those girls were actually trained belly dancers. That video is degrading to dancers just as much, if not more, as this one is. But I do agree. It is clearly taken from the AMERICAN perspective of belly dance. If you wanna see real belly dance in Arabic movies, look up "Fifi Abdo nour el ayoun" or suheir zaki laylet hob"

I hate this. It's a great performance, don't get me wrong. However, America portrays belly dance as a harem dance solely for the purpose of seducing men. Notice how the room is full of men and she's the only woman there, the way the men look at her, the way she touches the guys face, the look in her eye, and how she puts her leg on the table. @Carycomic No. Indy did meet Mata Hari and it's with her he lost his virginity(how cool is that?) but that was before this episode. It's paired with the Verdun episode in the "movie"" Demons of Deception" while Indy was just a foot soldier. This Zeta-Jones clip is from "Daredevils of the Desert" when Indy was a French Spy. Director Simon Wincer took his lots of footage from his own existing movie about the Australian Lighthorsemen and made it into an excellent Young Indy adventure.

well, sorry to say, but in much of the oriental countries it actually is.. in most of the clubs women are even prohibited to enter.

they do of course also dance in mixed restaurants, but the club scene does exist.. i heard in the gulf countries (a waiter told me, as i said women cant enter) they even undress often, or wear supposedly "sexy" clothes (secretary style, short skirt, high high heels, blouse, tie..)
