  • dude i think you should have had more practice before making the video cuz you dont really do it right ;)

  • @911Jawbraker I never passed this off as perfect, but it is pretty close to the original and people appreciate a tutorial for it. But what do I know, being a bassist for 5 years and a multi-instrumentalist for two? Go ahead and upload your own video of you playing the bass solo better than this.

  • @ElegyOfTheDead Been playing for 7 here, I was playing full Death covers after 3.

Now, I learned a lot between 5 yrs. experience and 7 yrs. I cannot stress this enough though, you have to play OFTEN. You need to build the finger strength to open plateaus. I am just now reforming my whole technique because I feel i need to be cleaner. I'm done playing stuff I can't play with 100% perfectly clean fretting. Im working back up through the songs I know.

You need more practice but there's hope.

  • @Serob77 Thanks for the feedback haha. Yeah, I figure that while I'm not necessarily BAD, there is just an EXTREME amount of room for improvement. It really doesn't help that I've also been focusing on doing the same with my guitar recently, so it tends to take the focus off of bass a bit :/ Helps a lot with writing original material because I can get a feel for both the rhythm/bass section as well as the lead/harmony parts. Thanks for the comment either way, I will be practicing a lot lol

  • @ElegyOfTheDead it is appreciated and i'm not here to bash you or challenge you to a bass duel...but seriously why teach something you can't play yourself?

  • good tutorial, but my bass only has 20 frets :P

so its hard to play the beginning. but good job man

  • @rockstardrum1 Same here. x-x

  • are you in a band?

  • @CBHBIB Nah. I've tried to get into one or get one together but it's not too good right now.

  • @ElegyOfTheDead man same here i play guitar bass and drums guitar for 6 years bass and drums for 1. i play with my cousin he plays rythem and we jam to a bunch of old thrash stuff slayer megadeth anthrax and of course the best metallica. you are great i would love to have a bassist like you to be in my band. and what do you mean its not too good right now

  • @CBHBIB Not good right now in the sense of the local metal scene >.< Nobody here really like it haha. And if you're nearby, I would love to play with you and your cousin :P

  • @ElegyOfTheDead you live in michigan right thats what mi means haha i hope so cause im in northwest ohio and i no the feeling of nobody really likeing it including my dad haha

  • @CBHBIB Yes I do lol. Unfortunately, Ohio is pretty far away from me >_< It's almost a 2 hour trip to Toledo :/

  • @ElegyOfTheDead man that sucks well maybe someday we can work something what isyour favorite song you can play on bass my favorite is trapped under ice just because i get a rush when i play really loud haha

  • @CBHBIB Yeah we'll try and set something up, message me sometime haha. Uhh, I'd have to say that my favorite to play on bass is either Ride the Lightning or War Pigs by Black Sabbath :P

  • @ElegyOfTheDead i can play both on guitar ride the lightning is a cool song espesially that harmonized intro

  • good job it could still use a little bit of work though

  • I think we have the same bass.. SG Ibanez?

  • @coltfizz Nah, I have a Rogue LX200BL :/

  • nice lesson man now i can kick some asses with that solo =P

  • thanks so much

  • i only got 20 frets

  • @Cruz713mexicanpride =/ Sorry to hear...Well I suppose that you will have to strengthen your fingers enough and get to the point that you can bend the string that much. It's not too hard; Cliff does a similar kind of bend in the famous For Whom the Bell Tolls solo of his. Other than that, you should be just fine.

  • hey dude. thanks for the instruction really good. i wanted to let u know i figured an even easier way to play the harmony part. so for the third harmony. the one u play the first 2 notes on the G string. if u instead make the first note the 14th fret of the G string (like u said) and the 16th of the D and then the 17th of the A. u get the same harmony. again thanks for the video instruction

  • Mm'hmm, I noticed. You can play however you want to, I just showed what I thought in my opinion was the easiest from trial and error :P Just a bit easier for me to do it like in the video because you just end up anchoring the 11th fret for the third and fourth harmonies and you're not moving more than you have to in order to get the job done.

  • nice vid, man im gonna subscribe and plz post more!

  • Thanks! Haha, I liked doing these, so it's good to hear that people like 'em...are there any you want to see especially?

  • @ElegyOfTheDead man are you a lefty

  • @nirvanaruleforever Yes I am o_O
