What review does a long term quality award? of course its initial quality they aren't giving out awards to 1993 hondas, your claim holds no weight. they don't review and award cars that way because every car needs service it depends on the driver and how hard you drive the car. initial quality means the car in there eyes was made well and can take more ware and tear then others. get it together

Actually I used to love BMW, but then I owned one & it changed my opinion on them. I spent over 100 grand Canadian on a '02 7 series & the thing was damn near a peice of junk! No offence BMW fans, but the Lexus' I have owned were so much better. Most BMW fans are just that, fans. Or they are biased towards cars that perform well, but from an ownership viewpoint, BMWs are nowhere near some of their competitiors when it comes to reliability, qualty, durability, technology, resale value, etc.
Well, it's not really fair to base the quality of an entire brand on arguably the least reliable vehicle that brand has ever made ('02 7 series). As far as reliability, Lexus is much better. But some people are willing to pay the extra cost for the performance and feel of a BMW. Resale value? Bad among all luxury brands. Yes, Lexus is better, but is it more fun to drive? Never.
Well driving fun is dependant on the driver themself. I have much more fun driving a Lexus than a BMW becasue I like soft, smooth riding cars with soft steering. BMWs are bumpy. noisy, & have tight steering which some people like but it is not for me. You can say Lexus' are not as fun to drive, but they sure as hell are a lot more comfortable. Not all luxury brands have bad resale value, Lexus & Mercedes have excellent resale value, BMW, not so much. Their durability is questionable too.
I agree with nearly every point you made; I should have used the word "involving" to drive instead of fun. Yes, Lexus is more comfortable (i.e. boring for most enthusiasts, no offense). Lexus does have better resale, but Mercedes just doesn't. In the early '90s, yes, but not any more.
This jag does not hit 225 mph stock. It needs a PSI increase, a different gearbox, racing tyres, and aerodynamic upgrades to do so. And it will NOT hit 100 mph in 6-7s it will do it in 9.6s and 120 in 13.6s. The 2006 M5 will hit 100 mph in 9.2 and 120 in 13.3 ao this is a lot slower than its BMW counterpart, including around tracks.
Jag introduced the original sports sedan in the 60's then the others followed suite. Jag lost there way but now are back & rightly at the top which 90% of reviews around the world have put them. Long live the king!

Jaguar & Land Rover are only owned by Tata motors, it is a parent company they do not make or build the cars in anyway. get the facts before you make a fool out of yourself. Jaguars are assembled and built in coventry england. and Jaguar is rated #1 in J.D. Power and Associates reliability review.

that reliability review is in "initial quality." That means little to nothing in terms of long term reliability, of which Jaguar is near the bottom of the list.

Tata motors makes the cheapest cars in the world. Jaguar and Land Rover are highly unreliable vehicles. This is why you rarely see them on the streets. BMW is much more reliable and you see them more than any luxury car on the streets.

Tata is the boss now and decide what crap they want to put in these cars. It doesn't matter if it's built in England. The materials, the engine, and the tech are all decided by Tata idiot. When Ford owned Jaguar and Land Rover, they were the ones who switched out the BMW engine in the Range Rover for a Jaguar. Tata could one day have the Jaguar engine switched out for a Tata one. The quality would never be the same.

@edge160 Plus your saying the engine switch from a Bmw motor to a Jaguar motor was a bad thing, Last time I checked the new engine is one of the best in its class getting a better hp to mpg ratio with way more power, Land Rovers got a bad name for being unreliable when Bmw was providing there engines.

whatever. where I come from BMW and Porsche rule the streets. Land Rover and Jaguar are rare sites. I'm not a hater of both cars. I do like the look of Range Rovers, and would only buy one if I were a celebrity or someone really rich and didn't care if there were any ssues. I could buy a Range Rover Sport right now, but I'm not at the point where money is no object.

mrstatictunes the 2 cars are designed for totally different drives - the M3 more a single focused racer, the jag a sophisticated autobahn stormer - you could spend the 20k on the M3, but it still is just a suped up M3 - luxury and power is where it is at, if you want a race car by a GTR.

What light? That BMWs are overrated? They cost more to buy new than a Lexus but cost half as much as what you paid for them after a year! The reliability is rated lower than such vehicles as Jaguar & Lincoln. The cost to fix & insure these cars are ridiculous. I think BMWs are pretty nice cars, but when people try to say they are better than a Lexus or Merc, or even worse, saying they're the best, is absolutely preposterous!! All they do is perform well, which doesnt mean shit in the real world!

Actually I used to love BMW, but then I owned one & it changed my opinion on them. I spent over 100 grand Canadian on a '02 7 series & the thing was damn near a peice of junk! No offence BMW fans, but the Lexus' I have owned were so much better. Most BMW fans are just that, fans. Or they are biased towards cars that perform well, but from an ownership viewpoint, BMWs are nowhere near some of their competitiors when it comes to reliability, qualty, durability, technology, resale value, etc.

Well, it's not really fair to base the quality of an entire brand on arguably the least reliable vehicle that brand has ever made ('02 7 series). As far as reliability, Lexus is much better. But some people are willing to pay the extra cost for the performance and feel of a BMW. Resale value? Bad among all luxury brands. Yes, Lexus is better, but is it more fun to drive? Never.

Well driving fun is dependant on the driver themself. I have much more fun driving a Lexus than a BMW becasue I like soft, smooth riding cars with soft steering. BMWs are bumpy. noisy, & have tight steering which some people like but it is not for me. You can say Lexus' are not as fun to drive, but they sure as hell are a lot more comfortable. Not all luxury brands have bad resale value, Lexus & Mercedes have excellent resale value, BMW, not so much. Their durability is questionable too.

I agree with nearly every point you made; I should have used the word "involving" to drive instead of fun. Yes, Lexus is more comfortable (i.e. boring for most enthusiasts, no offense). Lexus does have better resale, but Mercedes just doesn't. In the early '90s, yes, but not any more.

This jag does not hit 225 mph stock. It needs a PSI increase, a different gearbox, racing tyres, and aerodynamic upgrades to do so. And it will NOT hit 100 mph in 6-7s it will do it in 9.6s and 120 in 13.6s. The 2006 M5 will hit 100 mph in 9.2 and 120 in 13.3 ao this is a lot slower than its BMW counterpart, including around tracks.

What were they comparing it against because it turns out that when they sent it around the dry handling track against the M5 it was 0.8 seconds slower and when they sent it on the wet handling track against the M5 it was 3 seconds slower.
