  • How do you play the part where he starts singing just after this riff?? There are no tutorials for full song and I can't read tabs yet!!

  • I thought you said this was easy!

  • Recorded with a tamagotchi?? haha :D

  • watch Jimi perform this song live on some Dutch tv show. Its on yt. He plays it differently

  • thanks for sharing good riff and very well played, I read that someone asked for the tone, it means Key, He wants to know the key of this song, I think it is E minor.

  • nice job

  • /watch?v=Q2y4-9kJ1vg

  • you didnt explain the ending good, you said 9th fret string 3 twice when its realy 7th fret string 3, then 9th fret string 3, also you didnt mention the last note

  • @iDuffdabestweed Thanks for pointing that out. I added an annotation to correct it.

  • this isn't easy at all :|

  • in what tone is this song ??

  • @alamierdaelnicky Not sure what you mean. Tone?

  • @alamierdaelnicky

    Originally in e flat.

  • awesome... me thinks i like it

  • You are a great teacher

  • great lesson dude keep rockin

  • great riff made easy thanks

  • this song kills your fingers

  • easy m8

  • thank you .

  • thank you 4 teaching the whole intro is hard to find a lesson like this thanks

  • is that the e dorian ?

  • No, this riff is just the plain old minor pentatonic. But the guitar solo is based in E Dorian.

  • What is a dorian? Is it a scale?

  • Dorian is the second mode in the major scale. To understand this concept look up guitar chord progressions, playing by numbers and guitar modes.

  • @GuitarMusicTheoryTab is this a job or not? lol just wondering

  • Please, people! Have some common sense and look in the description.

  • nice u are really good with your fingers

  • thats what she said!

  • LOL PWNED

  • tabs please?

  • do u have tab 4 this

  • GOD nobody has the chorus..

  • i know the chorus ill post a vid of it if any one still needs it im not a pro guitarist and its bye ear but ill give it a go if u need it send me a message any one if u need it

  • I know. I want to learn the chorus and the vers. EVERYBODY knows the intro

  • your my hero no one else on here has made this easier to understand how to play

  • Just to let you know on the first note (9 on the D)

You don't just play the 9, you slide from 5 to the 9 :)

  • sorry , i don't speak english very well but

    its amazing

finaly i can play this intro

  • Great lesson mate. Good close ups, good vocal descriptions, broken down into small steps and worked through slowly. Thanks a lot!

  • thanks dude

  • nice m8

  • This is brilliant, thank you so much I can now play it, just need to speed it up a bit xx

  • maybe zoom out a little more, its hard to follow where you are sometimes

    thanks, great

  • Can you do a tutorial for Voodoo Child please? And how do you get the effects say using a digitech rp 500?

  • Sorry but I'm too busy to take requests. I can tell you that Voodoo Child is also in E minor pentatonic, but with all strings tuned down 1/2 step.

  • Greta tutorial. Thanks a lot! I'm pretty new to the guitar. Learning all the theory is hard work. It's great that you've made this simple enough for beginners to follow, so we can play the odd ditty that sounds cool even though our knowledge is currently pants! Thanks!

  • guys if u cant bend that good jus play the 7th fret instead of bending the 6th

  • good vid, it really helped!

  • where can i find a lesson for the solo?

  • wow u r really a good teacher and hey i was gonna stop guitar but i'm not becuz of this lesson

  • dood this help so much thanks alot!!!! i learned after a couple of watches!

  • wow, that´s the best guitar "lesson" video I´ve ever seen (although you could use a few slides like jimi). I dealt with this song (intro) for a couple of days, but within 10 minutes after I´ve seen the video I was able to play it. Thank you

  • thank you

    that was real awesome help

  • didnt it say easy?

I already knew how to play it but this sounds a lot better than my version ;)

  • great lesson, thanks.

  • awesome lesson for an awesome song!

  • the best video ever!

  • thanks for the lesson ilearned it it sounds great and my friend is allitle jelous . hes better then me so im happy

  • best vid on youtube! yes! all others are really crap!

  • can i try playing this on acoustic aswell. is that ok cuz i don't have an electric guitar!!

  • yer it works just as well!

  • i dont think u should bend the notes too much though cuz i heard the string breaks for an acoustic but go ahead with the rest

  • is this acoustic or electric?

  • electric

  • i remeber when i couldn't play this tune...i was all like DAMN DAMN UGH! It was incredibly easy once i watched this tho [=

  • dude honestly u got mad skills at beenin a teacher man, keep it up

  • awesome video thanks.

  • i would like to learn how to play pentatonic scales with all those patterns u hv displayed in the video...how can i do tht??

  • hey guitarmusic guy. could you help? this the first riff I've tried to learn, but cant get it.. 2 weeks into it... tryn' to add a vid responce..

  • Easier riffs include Wish You Were Here, My Girl, Sunshine of Your Love and Susie Q.

  • try song like nothing else matters and paranoid to start, then progress to harder songs

  • Can I ask you what AMP settings/effects were used to produce that sound ?

  • Well thanks for the lesson great!

    Question though!

It's been said Hendrix used Eflat tuning And SRV did too is this so?

    Thanks again for the lesson!

  • Yes Hendrix sometimes tuned down, but not on this song. SRV was always tuned down.

  • Very good instruction. Thank you very much for taking the time.

  • Hey thanks, very informative. Slow enough so i can write down the tab as your talking and go back over it. I've wasted a lot of time trying to get notes from other videos because they do not give you the tab, alot of them are there to show off their playing..again. thanks.

  • Mate you are a wondereful teacher. Made that so easy for me to learn. Please keep posting as much as you can. Wonderful stuff

  • Great. If u learn something, u should share it. thx

  • thanks man, great vid...

  • Now, that's how these licks SHOULD be shown. Thanks!

  • einfach gut

  • good lesson simple and understandable for most

people who just started playing guitar

  • watch?v=323ahe2E-CM

    watch the difference

  • The other guy admits that his notes are as close as he could get them. Also the reason his sounds different is because he is sliding into the notes. This video is just showing you the main notes without any sliding. If the sliding was put in it would probably sound fairly close to each other.

  • you're playing it wrong

  • thanks man for giving back!!! you're making a dream come true and making a difference in the world;)

  • Molto ben fatto, grazie!

  • this really helped alot been trying to get this song down for a long time now thanks bro
