thanks for sharing good riff and very well played, I read that someone asked for the tone, it means Key, He wants to know the key of this song, I think it is E minor.
you didnt explain the ending good, you said 9th fret string 3 twice when its realy 7th fret string 3, then 9th fret string 3, also you didnt mention the last note
i know the chorus ill post a vid of it if any one still needs it im not a pro guitarist and its bye ear but ill give it a go if u need it send me a message any one if u need it
Greta tutorial. Thanks a lot! I'm pretty new to the guitar. Learning all the theory is hard work. It's great that you've made this simple enough for beginners to follow, so we can play the odd ditty that sounds cool even though our knowledge is currently pants! Thanks!
wow, that´s the best guitar "lesson" video I´ve ever seen (although you could use a few slides like jimi). I dealt with this song (intro) for a couple of days, but within 10 minutes after I´ve seen the video I was able to play it. Thank you
Hey thanks, very informative. Slow enough so i can write down the tab as your talking and go back over it. I've wasted a lot of time trying to get notes from other videos because they do not give you the tab, alot of them are there to show off their playing..again. thanks.
The other guy admits that his notes are as close as he could get them. Also the reason his sounds different is because he is sliding into the notes. This video is just showing you the main notes without any sliding. If the sliding was put in it would probably sound fairly close to each other.
How do you play the part where he starts singing just after this riff?? There are no tutorials for full song and I can't read tabs yet!!

is that the e dorian ?
munchie180 2 years ago
No, this riff is just the plain old minor pentatonic. But the guitar solo is based in E Dorian.
GuitarMusicTheoryTab 2 years ago 3
What is a dorian? Is it a scale?
BrucePetty 2 years ago
Dorian is the second mode in the major scale. To understand this concept look up guitar chord progressions, playing by numbers and guitar modes.

Can you do a tutorial for Voodoo Child please? And how do you get the effects say using a digitech rp 500?
dhirajkhanna 2 years ago
Sorry but I'm too busy to take requests. I can tell you that Voodoo Child is also in E minor pentatonic, but with all strings tuned down 1/2 step.

Question though!
It's been said Hendrix used Eflat tuning And SRV did too is this so?
Thanks again for the lesson!
jhny777 3 years ago
Yes Hendrix sometimes tuned down, but not on this song. SRV was always tuned down.
