@ppfilipino War Plan Orange real intention was to rescue only G.I.'s, and they will wait in Bataan. Bat sad to say their help was delayed,leaving Filipinos and Americans in a swampy jungle warfare. my lolo was a spy for the filipino guerrilla intelligence my lola was in her last year of med school when the war broke out, she volunteered for the red cross during the whole war. she was injured and afflicted with disease thus was never able to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor and came home to a burnt house and murdered family. the american gov.'t abandoned the true heroes, the guerrillas who chased the japs into the mountains. those true heroes never got their benefits or anything.

@christlubas Same as Philippines, but the difference between two countries were Filipinos have gone to mountains to train guerilla warfare and Russians fought by following Stalin's order (Not one step back), leading them into a battlefield without guns (Yeah, they are given weapons by their commissars with no bullets, they have been given with bullets without carbines, or none at all, just bare hands)

well... as proud as i am for being a filipino... i am more proud of being moro.. for over 300 years the filipinos in luzon and visayas have been fighting for freedom for they have been enslavede by the colonizers but the moros in mindanao remained strong and was not as enslaved as the ones in luzon and mindanao.. a large area of mindano remained under the control of their respective datus and moro leaders.. salam! proud to be moro...

allies. desertion among philippine army during bataan is high. philippine army was hastily

organized thus poorly trained and not well equiped. but the best unit in the world during that time are the philippine scouts who are composed of filipinos led by american officers.

yeah... That's according to American History book.... But to those who are actually in the in the battlefield.. Filipino Soldiers NEVER deserted. They fought to the end even they are outnumbered. They just went to mountains and used Guerrilla tactics which is more effective, deadly and claimed more japanese soldiers lives than conventional warfare used by the Americans..

This is a very well done documentary. The veterans stories and use of real and recreated footage is outstanding. Those who made critical comments here regarding the role of the USA in defense of the Phillippines might try reading a history book or two. The Japanese planned and wanted war, the US and Phillippines did not, therefore, the Japanese had the initial upper hand. A lesson to those who merely dream of peace while doing nothing to prepare for another's want for conquest.
