This is a great song! I like your voice a lot. You sort of hack at the guitar just like I do. :) Last week somebody suggested I concentrate on strumming smoother... I think we get the hacking because Neil does it! Anyway... smooth isn't all bad, especially on a song like this.

This has always been one of my favorite Buffalo Springfield/Neil Young songs. Never got a ton of radio play back in the 60's, and you rarely hear it today on the oldies stations. Very underrated.

Richie Furay's vocals on the original were superb. This is an excellent cover. Thanks for posting it.

I am 2 hours from my first crosby stills nash concert and I am going down memory lane here on youtube. this song is an underrated overlooked GEM of a tune. I almost didn't listen when I realized it was a cover...but I am listening to the end!

Buffalo Springfield's first LP has three fine songs Richie Furay sang:"Flying on the ground is wrong", "Nowadays Clancy can't even sing" and this one. Not that the whole album isn't great. I mean Richie sang the most melodic of their songs.

Well, 60sbest, I think there was some great talent there. I don't think I really paid much attention to analyzing them like you have done, and this song is sang by Furay, but Neil has that type of skill as well as you suggest (thinking on it). I love all those songs you want us to listen to. Retrospect is one album that was played by me to death and will listen to it again to see if the skill of the inflections are just as apparent.

I agree normality. This is a tricky one. It's an outstandingly well-written song, and with all the hesitations and inflections, it's apparent its much more than a run of the mill pop song. I think this little hidden masterpiece should have been on their top shelf of songs. Kudos to this fine Cover.

How old are you? You have a fine analysis of a finer mess. Neil inflections and hesitations, as he climbs his mountains to hallmark heights most moral songwriters can't feel (they are not feeling arrangers a la The Loner) or see (they can't open up their tired eyes a la Tired Eyes). Listen to Mr Soul, Expecting to Fly, On The Way Home, I am a Child. Or solo efforts with songs as I've been Waiting for You, Powderfinger Listen to Zuma and go past the rocky road of Decadence (Decade).

I always loved this song by Neil. I believe it's the flip side of For What it's Worth, and sung by Richie Furay. I just wish he'd do it himself in concert. I've seen him over 30 times and never seen it yet.
