  • that is not elijah rock thumbs down for all of you

  • @ellettucin79 They skipped around but it is Elijah Rock.

  • it's alright but if your going to sing a song that prestigious act professional it was a little disheartening to see people thrusting during it but overall it was alright could have been better

  • Mr Haus!<3

  • That kid's gotta stop thrusting.

  • Movement is a little much

  • nice fro dude

  • @Notdicktastings Hahahah!! That was me! Thank you sir.

  • My choir is singing this song right now, and it's actually a very difficult piece to time ,swaying actually helps to keep everyone together .

  • I'm a bass all the way ;D

  • it sounds like they're saying shots! shots! XD

  • I'm singing soprano two in this!!!:D

  • we sounded great!

  • It was overall really good there were a couple of wrong notes but it was really good and this is a hard piece to sing

  • This is Amazing!! One of the choir at my school did this same song and they did great!!!!

  • The tenors missed the split at "coming up lord"

  • My choir and I are doing this piece right now. I love that it show cases the men because in most songs the men have the backrounds. It is so awesome!

  • Sumter High School did better than that

  • veryyy well done :)

  • Look at the guys afro!!! dang.... so irrelevant but still!!!!

  • its "o coming up lord Elijah" but its so fast you year "lawdy'

  • i love the "o" on "c"o"min' up lawdy" in the girls sections. phenomenal!

  • were singing this in choir (:

Thah high D is ... very beautiful

  • Whats the name of the blonde soprano singer that is in the middle?,and is she a solist singer ?

    thanks

  • very nice!!

  • i love this song. u guys did a really good job. the only thing is i wish u guys would've had the sopranos hold those high d's and c's just a little longer but u guys did great!

  • my choir (John H.Pitman High School) did this song! (:

i am so proud of us, yes we weren't the best but we gavce it our all & i am swelled with pride, my goal is to one day reach the highest soprano note! (im an alto)

  • i absolutely love this song! (:

we heard it my senior year at district competition, and begged my director to let us do it for state. sadly, we didn't have enough men that year to do it. but i still fell in love with this piece that year. those soprano notes give me chills. i always love hitting them. (:

    great job guys!

  • Sorry if I put the same comment twice, I just didn't know if it got posted.

  • My choir director wants us to sing this so he told us to look it up. IT IS AMAZING!!!!!! Does anyone know where I can download this song, you know, to practice it? He told us that it is very difficult and that since there are people singing different things at the same time it confuses a little. I'm Alto by the way.

  • The girls were pretty pitchy..it's such a shame. There were so many great singers in this. If only they had the right notes.

  • LOVED!

  • i dont care what anyone says..elijah rock is a difficult piece of music and for this young crowd to perform this and sound this good is incredible..i give 100 percent props to the conductor yall sound beautiful and to have a young soprano to pull off that high note was amazing...i love this video and im putting it in my favorites...beautiful

  • way too loud Elijah Rock the first time it was sang. if yall r gunna sing sing it with feeling then sing it with more feeling lol. too robotic. PRHS ROCKS THIS SONG soloist good job.

  • hey im in the chicago childrens choir and in response to Jayy2323 and Jordann23231....movement is essential to music..if you simply stand there during a piece then your music isn't going to be as exciting..your emotion isnt going to be picked up as much..however i do agree that the sopranos and altos are more than a little sharp but they aren't horriblevowels need to be much darker because it is a traditional african spiritual but its altogether not bad..i like the movement it adds to the energy

  • it's not dancing with the choir....sorry....that would drive my choir director CRAZY!

  • My vocal ensemble did a much easier upbeat version LoL But I like this one

  • basses && tenors= thumbs up! spopranos && altos= little sharp..sorry!

  • them moving...at a concert....my choir director would kill us...

  • @Jayy2323 Normally, yeah. But this is a song that's supposed to be filled with almost a spiritual emotion that's SUPPOSED to overwhelm those who hear and sing it. Moving is pretty much needed for this. I just wish they conveyed the emotion more in a ritualistic way. Almost like an occult thing, you know?

  • Some of their vowels are amazing, other times they are a little to bright for this piece, one thing that drove me crazy was "eljuh" our teach bore into our men's brains "eljaw." Our choir won the 2010 Heritage festival this year and the adjudicator's award with this as one of our pieces, and i this that we did it a bit better, but that might just be me.

  • @SmallFryAmI and i think*

  • nice

  • Their men are GREAT for a what seems to be a high school choir. The women...not so much. As said earlier, MUCH to harsh. There was especially one woman on "Shout shout" who basically....shouted. Completely out of tune. Still an overall great performance!

  • i love it!

  • awesome ending

  • i hate how there moving so much its so annoying to look at. this sucked

  • you did very good

  • man laurel high school select choir can shut this choir all the way down

  • @stacia2010 yeah, highland high concert choir, in gilbert, az did this piece, and it was AMAZING. Much better than this.

  • omfg......we did this in are 6th grade chore class .....but we got all ones but we wernt as good as you guys ....YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!

  • great ending ;)

  • tenors do an amazing job at reading the notes at hallelujah lord but i agree, sapranos are waay to harsh, especially with 'shout shout'.

  • lol, the kid with the afroXD

  • AGAIN I GET IT WRONG?!

  • the women are too harsh with thier notes, especially the "Shout, Shout." Make sure you are using the same vowel sounds for would. I hear an ooooh and an uuuuh. cxc2014, you are sadly mistaken for recomending this version. there are better versions out there. P.S, your acoustics suck big time... you should invest in some shells...

  • oh ya. what the hell is with the stomping and rocking at the end kid in the middle? ya. the one next to the guy with converse....high schoolers....

  • They are good but SOOOO NOT as good as Newbury High School!

  • The Newburians were AWESOME on Wednesday at my school. I know a school that would also sound cool: Glendale.

  • this is good but its nothing like the one we're gonna do at northley middle school!

    (ours) altos supranos:eeelijah

    tanners:elijah

    altos,supranos:eeeliiijah

    tanners:elijaaah

all three:rock...elijah rock, shout, shout! elijah rock c'mon up looord elijah rock shout, shout! elijah rock c'mon up lord elijah...elijah...satens a lier and a conjer too if you don't watch out he'll conjer you! if i could i surley would stand on the rock where moses stood

    tanners:WHERE MOSES STOOD!(thats not all)

  • @rosellathehedgehog18 Thats the same as ours! lol I like our version better! lol :)

  • cool!

  • @rosellathehedgehog18 ...Tanner?

  • @CabbitDos the boys.......well.....thats what they're called at my school

  • tenor, child, tenor.

  • please do tell...what is a tanner?

  • i spelled it wrong, it's spelled "tanor" not that......sorry ^^' but it's the boys

  • try tenor....

  • Comment removed

  • This isn't that bad but you guys are rushing a tonn.

Vibrato is way too much.. blend more.

Check out Duluth East Acappella Elijah Rock.. so amazing. You can learn something..

  • Yeah the men are doing great, but sopranos and altos could use some work, but there are some parts where the soprano's shine. But since this is high school most soprano voices haven't fully developed.

    Overall good.

  • The version that I'm being taught now is one million times better then this

  • the version were learning at school is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better

  • WHOAH! VERY BAD

  • Come on girls !!!! Watch the vibrato!!! Tooooo much

  • Still a great song to watch performed... I like the energy the guys have in it. They really had fun with it.

  • theres no blend

fhhs choir is gonna do better :DD

  • <333 Altos on this!!! They know their stuffs!!

  • the sopranos are a little off...

  • i would have to agree with most comments the men were amazing.. the sopranos not so...

  • LOLS i love how everyone moves when thy sing

  • MAGNIFICENT!!! The Holy Spirit was there!!! Hallellujah!!!

  • this is a rare occurance of the men being held back by the sopranos. haha. i think one of the girls by the camera was a diva, which through it a bit off. but it's a difficult piece.. extremely well done!

  • Love this song. lol to the girl in the front that kept moving so much

  • that was AMAZING. My concert choir in my college is doing this. :)

  • The guys are great, nice n uniform, but the girls (mostly the sopranos i think) have some vowel problems. Great conducting though, the tempo changes were beautiful.

  • Hell No!!! SCPA IS THE SHIT!!! YO. YOU MUST BE TRIPPIN!

  • i love how mr. haus moves

    and his facial expressions!!! X3

  • I think this is great, and personally I like the rocking, sort of shows that you're really feeling it you know?

  • ya even though they obviouls dont know what the song is about. theyre like rockin out at the most moving moment

  • Elijah Rock OOHHHHH.... (NO)...lol j/k that was real good!

  • I have to agree with my peers when they said some parts were GREAT while other parts I thought could use improvement... difficult song Kudos!!

  • Parts of this is good and some parts are bad but the girls are not as good as the guys. My school did this song to. Watch it, its the video response above this.

  • oh lawd.

  • the random swaying is kinda destracting....voices r good but tht moving is not cute

  • they do it too slowly. but they were amazing, so i'll give them the BOTD.

  • I like seeing choirs getting into it an all. :D But you guys should work on your vowels. And slow down the tempo at the Legato parts. Other than that... it was awesome.

  • Check out the UST SINGER's version :)

  • This is the best version I've heard on here.

  • Ohh it is so nice!! Well done! I am really moved coz I remember when my choir used to sing that song. I just love it..

  • yes i do rock dont i x)

  • O_O Omg....AMAZING!

  • This song is hard if you're like my 9th grade choir and have only 1 first tenor because in the middle, the 1st and second tenors are doing something COMPLETELY different. Seconds are doing "Elijah rock, oh, oh, Elijah", and firsts are doing "Alleluia, Jesus! Hallelujah Jesus!"

  • looks like their so young...especially the kids in front.

  • demasiado de brutal, sobre todo los bajos!! ademas de que estan super animosos!! felicidades!

  • i love the movement:)\

my chorus teacher said that u dont talk to your friends w/out moving..so why should u stand still while singing?? i love how there really getting into it:)

  • i love the girl on the end she is quite the mover

  • it was good...alot of moving...lmao but it was good

  • WE SANG THiS SONG At Mi SCHOOl lASt NiGHt WiTH MORE PEOPlE ANd YUH GUiS SOUNd GOOd !! iT WOUlD SOUNd WAY BEttER iF YUH GUYS HAd ABOUt 2 TiMES THE PEOPlE LiKE At MY SCHOOl BUt i SOUNdEd REAllY GOOd !! NiCE JOb =]]

  • Sounded very good.

  • Its mr. haus!

  • Brilliant job.

    It sounded lovely.

I'd love to have my choir do something even half as remarkable as this.

  • this is good..my high school mixed choir performs this song, and you get a better effect when you are there live...not in a video

  • I sang this song and it sounded better than this....... OMG :( ..... but i love the song

  • It wuz aight, im not sayin its bad. ya'll r gud

  • The choir itself doesn't blend very well. Each part is excellent. However, it is a CHOIR piece. It may just be from where the camera is picking up sound.

  • I love Jennifer Hirschorn!! <3

  • PHSN Symphonic Choir just got a 1 (superior) singing this song at states on saturday!!!! woohoo!

  • dats wussup man

  • My choir just rocked this song out on friday at District Music Contest!!! We got 1's all across the board!!!! Woot! GO PAPIO SOUTH TITANS!!!!

  • im happy fa u!!!11

  • Wanted to hear more of the alto part... lawd that one soprano need to calm down on the vibrato...and the 1st/2nd soprano split at the end was just awful..flat as a tire.. other than that is was ok..

  • Man, all I know is ... One soprano was really getting into it. Lol. Good job.

  • very good. i just did that song in a district festival but in a different version... but u were amazing. great job.

  • That was incredible!!!!

  • umm are yall supposed to be dancing

  • HAHA yeah I like the gyrating hips

  • movement in choirs is always more interesting to watch than a bunch of people standing there like stones. but the chick with the gyration is kinda weird..

  • in advance compitition, judges are looking for body movement. not standing still while singing a powerful song.

  • HA im singing this song in choir for my spring consert tonight and Elija rock DOESNT sound like this

  • ummmmmmmmmmmmm get real who ever you are!!!! im from charlotte, north carolina i went to nrthwest school of the arts and if you have any type of artistic mind you would know that there are a million versions of this song.......and im waiting for a reply betta yet come to my face im straight hood........dont fuck with them cuz, that ate my choir cant even touch them.

  • you're from charlotte!!! have you heard of audrey kell?

  • OMG of course they nt gud im sorry even they music now they need to step it up they fight to much there now. but why wussup?

  • lol i'm used to live there, my best friend goes there

  • if i pissed anybody off sorry i understand that we all hv a love fa music so forgive me. we hv a right to our own opinion!

  • girls seem to sing a little hard. I am not sure what age group this is but don't SHOUT and accent the T on Shout lol

  • yeah i know what you meen our women could be better because the dont sing loud enough sometimes and my music teacher cant stress that enough

  • Ill admit they overdid the SHOUT part Moses hogan believed in articulation but I think he would have said this was a little too much lol overall good job...less gyrating though lol

  • I liked it a lot. My chorus is doing this too!

  • uff...sop off key a bit in some parts... and i honestly dont mind the moving...hello its gospel...you can't help but move...but the blonde girl in the front from was moving a little too much lmao! even looked like she was going to start booty dancing hahahaha! but you guys looked like you had fun and thats whats important...and there is a sop with too much vibrato...it doesn't sound bad but it was overpowering the rest...and ya need more presence in the altos...but i liked it...nice job

  • There was one soprano that needs to control her vibrato. My goodness was it out of control. I wanted to hear more of the alto 2 (like me^_^), but the sopranos overpowered them. but good work though.

  • The basses were pretty good. Needs a little more alto though. And sopranos, easy on the vibrato! But overall not bad!

  • I don't know much about choirs, but this group of kids did much better than any other I've seen on youtube.

I personally like the movement, it gives much more energy and feeling, I for one would not be able to simply stand still giving such a powerful performance such as the one in this video.

And that is one of the most kick-ass fro's I've seen in the modern age.

  • go sdscpa man. yussss

  • The tenor section is amazing...particularly one individual. Same thing with the basses, there is one particular bass 2 that just owns. The altos are pretty good, but the sopranos need to chill a little bit. They also need to work on their voewls. An example is the word "sister" at the beginning. It made me cringe a little bit.

  • I was shout was taller------why so spread on that vowel? Other than that----not bad at all!

  • sops were a bit out of it, other thanthatsit was good!

  • agreed with reyrocksall. and the girl with the straight blonde hair in the first row: they way she moved. haha :] and the movement in general, MY GOOOODNESSS. i was getting seasick dude! if the choir had new sopranos, this would be a very good choir.

  • sopranos were out of tune... other than that i liked. especially the afro, made me laugh

  • Personally, I don't see how you can stand still and sing this song. There's too much meaning in it for too many people. Music should move you - emotionally and physically.

  • I'm not a fan of all that moving either but I have seen WAY worse than this. This group did really well with this song- it's not perfect, but then, nothing is! Very enjoyable.

  • i think that they did very well. the movement was a bit much and it takes your focus off of the song but i still enjoyed it.

  • One of their sopranos needs to TAKE IT EASY on the vibrato... Jesus.

  • they should keep still while they sing

  • siete bravi :)

  • well done. i like it. sopranos screaming a little too much though. but great job guys

  • Why is everyone like going in circles?o.o

  • ugh those sopranos were awful. messed up my fav part, the 1st and 2nd sop duet. omg why and then they waere flat at the end too. Man ya'll need to fix that.

  • one of the sopranos was standing out too much...pretty good though

  • this is ok..all the movement was wayy too much. n the "shout" was annoying...look at the third guy from the right. lmao!!!!
