  • Its such a fat bassline groove so mega chilled out 70's "we can work part time and still afford to purchase a house" vibe ....all the time in the world to engage reflect define refine and reengage with life ..hahahaha I rule

  • karknack I'll have what your havin

  • yeah lots of memories connected with this this song,also....Mostly centered around a brutal romantic break-up....and this song was on the radio every f**king moment at that time....But what a masterpiece of a song,eh? It's brilliant.....Achingly beautiful.....

  • Many memories connected with this song.

  • I loved Ambrosia back in the day, glad I have youtube to reflect. Thanks for sharing...

  • I need a box of kleenex when I listen to this. It touches me in my soul.

  • Ambrosia, Puerta and Pack layered their music and harmonies into some amazing songs which we all miss today. Out of all of their songs, this one from their first album is still my favorite. I swear I have heard two different versions of this as noted by the end of the song but I cant put my finger on it. Here is to hoping that more bands will learn the meaning of playing their own instruments, singing their own songs and layering true harmonies.

  • NEVER HEARD THIS SONG..BUT THATS PART OF MY PROBLEM IN LIFE, HOLDING ONTO YESTERDAY.ITS A KILLER AND A HEARTBREAK...WHAT TO??????ANY ADVICE?????TIME TO MOVE ON, WITHOUT MY DREAMGIRL, KITTY...THIS SITUATION HAS HELD ME BACK FOR 14 MONTHS AND IM STILL SOMEWHAT SHOT..BUT IMPROVING, REALIZING ITS NOT WORTH IT FOR ANY GUY OR GAL..BUT THATS FOR THE HEART TO DECIDE SOMETIMES....HEARTBROKEN...BUT....love u kitty...good luck and wish me the same..x0x0x..pete

  • @rexrockandroll Cheer up darlin, it does get better with time. They say time heals all wounds, its true. If Kitty wasnt meant for you she wont be, this experince only prepares you for your real love that is comin and you can bet she is coming. Remember with a smile.......

  • @rexrockandroll For me it's more the music that we had back then , and not the crap they play now . Xcellent song by an Xcellent group .

  • @rexrockandroll love given cannot be recalled for love is forever ...... that was your part she is gone and the feelings in women do not run as a mans... remember that..

  • hauntingly excellent song.

  • brings back great memories. don't understand

why this wasn't a bigger song for them. to me it's there

best song. i heard this on k-she late one night in 74 and

    that was that.

  • @porgy I agree. Their song Biggest Part of Me, which was good of course, was a much bigger hit. But this song is so haunting. It is my favorite song by them as well.

  • One of the greatest "bands" of all time.

  • I think one of the biggest problems with music nowadays is that nobody is willing to put their egos aside. Every singer today sings over the top, every lyricist is obsessed with themselves, and nobody seems willing to play a part-they all want to lead. Ambrosia was a real band, every member did their part.

  • This was when Musicians HAD TALENT...... they PLAYED those instruments.. and didn't let the electronics "play for them".....

  • the artsy side of Amborsia is what got me"hooked"on them.they did however rock out hard on "One Eighty".very diverse group and talent was not in short supply here.

  • I usually hear this song when my truck window's open and there's a 50 year old chick with feathered hair in a 1978 Camaro next to me.

  • Great album : )

  • Never noitced the awesome electric piano line.

  • Why this was never a bigger hit than it was for them, I'll never know. I think it's their finest song!

  • Can someone else please put up the 'Lover Arrive' song from this same album? The one that was there got removed. I love that song : )

  • wish I could find a live version of this song from the 70's. I know the "band" or whatever is left of it still play today but I would like to see the original

  • Man this gong really speaks to me, I been through alot in my life time (22 years thus far). I always had a problem of letting anyone and everything that i been through in life go you know. This jam here really wakes me up inside and gets me. I met a woman who really loves me and her whole being helped me let go and work through all of what i did and been through in life you know. I am really thankfully to have her in my life sincerely. I love and appreciate you mahal ko talaga sobra. salamat

  • Wow! Loved me some Ambrosia back in the day. Loved the 70's . So many white bands doing the R & B "thang." Hall & Oates, Bee Gees, Average White Band, etc .There's a six minute live version of this on Youtube mobil and it 's baddddddddd! Love this song.

  • thanks boswell. this tune is fantastic as are most of their songs. Great vocals and playing.

Haven't heard this in ages. Bless youtube and people like you for finding and posting stuff like this. You always have to hunt for good music to escape the corporate drivel spewed on the 1%'s stations.

  • Their best song in my opinion.

  • @SuperVitaminB I totally agree SuperVitaminB

  • man WHAT a great song!!!!! ThX for posting!

  • Great song brings me home and all the good memories Albuquerque New Mexico Sandia High school class of 1975!!!

  • @nemo9512 class of 1977 here = we're all holdin on to yesterday!!! take us back

  • I was 14 when I first heard this in 1976 ..what an amazing song. Even then they classified it as progressive, hah, no wonder I learned to appreciate Dream Theater??!!

  • Ambrosia you rock!!!! I sooooo love your music! Thank you!!

  • I keep holding on to my yesterday, the 70's was a simple and loving time for me. My man then is gone now but i never forget what i once heald on to. A love that has never gone away from me.

  • ambrosia was interesting progressive rock check out nice very nice on youtube ,great pop like this one and some cheesy pop

  • @mjsmcd your opnion varies, this kind of rock is nothing but great orginal music. nothing cheesy about this at all.

  • @catsenround this song is fine Check out NICE VERY NICE BY AMBROSIA here on ytube its prog rock some of their other pop hits to me arnt great thats all

  • Do love this song and they did it very well I must say!

  • LOVE this song!!

  • nice slow dancing song that brings the passion out of a lovely lady MMMMMMM :)

  • This was from around 1975....I think.....Anyways, great song....Brought back alot of memories !

  • simply magic!

  • Appropriate name for this band.

  • I've always said that lyrics can sometimes capture feelings like nothing else other than raw emotions...this song does just that.

  • Went to High School with Dave. Awesome even then!

  • Great music like this is enough reason to keep holding on to yesterday(s).

  • i met the lead singer and sound engineer in early 1979 when i was working for luskins high fidelity in fort laud. fla. they were looking for the best portable stereo cassette deck to record there concerts with.at the time we were selling the sony tc-158sd for $380. i told them that i use to use the tc152sd myself for years but if they wanted the best that they would have to go up the street to hi fi buys and get the nakamichi model 550 for $500 and they did!

  • One of the best songs in the 70's. Too bad we can't have that kind of music back.

  • @candace1600 It IS too bad. What the hell happened to our collective future??? Music used to be so creative, expressive, imaginative, inspirational, motivating, emotive, evocative, spiritual, cathartic, and soooo many other powerful influences on our lives----WTF happened in the past 25+ years???? Moronic imbecils got hold of the controls and dragged it all down to the level of amoebas and parasitic worms. The reptilian instincts rule now......

  • @Karnakdmagnificent it's the money that's distroying the music!!!

  • @Karnakdmagnificent so very true

  • @Karnakdmagnificent 25 years might be extreme ....Soundgarden, Portishead, David Gray, Tori Amos, Chris Isaak, Nirvana, Iron and Wine, Norah Jones, Pavement, Elliot Smith, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Fugazi, Christ even Seal Etc im just saying its more like 5 years of an absolute musical abyss

  • 43 here and this song and the 70 songs will always be the best!

  • One of my favorite bands back in the day, I was about 20 then. I forgot how much I liked their music. It still sounds great after all these years.

  • HAVE TO LET GO OF YESTERDAY....THE PAST IS GONE...THE FUTURES UNCERTAIN THE END IS ALWAYS NEAR....EVEN WITH LOVE, THATS THE HARD PART OF LIFE..X0..DAMN....

  • This beautiful song takes me back to the Fall of 1980 when I was 16 year old, a Jr. high school and the terrible crush that I had on a girl that I had met in summer school. She never knew how I felt about her because she normally attended an all girls Catholic School and I went to an inner-city High School in San Antonio. I heard this song for the first time that Fall on late night radio and immediately associated the song with the girl that I was crazy about.

  • hadn't heard this song about 30 years,awesome tune!!!!!!!

  • wow great song!! i was 15 years old living in ciudad delgado, san salvador, cuando esta cancion se oia mucho en el radio.yo no sabia ingles, pero me gusto mucho.i learned English as a second lenguage and understand the lyrics much better.la he buscado mucho pero no me sabia el nombre nor the band s name.Gracias por ponerla.it feels good to travel back in time!!

  • That is what youth is all about, raging hormones, FOXY Ladies and great music. It worked then and it will keep on. GOOD STUFF.

  • Call it blue eyed soul, or whatever, but it's still rock solid. My most pretentious friends will admit its really, really tight.

  • Thanks for posting this song! Please don't take it down, it's great and hard to find!

  • amazing! Ive had this song in my head for 2 weeks now!! not knowing the true name of the song, or the artist till this morning it popped in my head again and I thought I had to find out who sang it cause I loved it! and it was Ambrosia!! amazing!! I love them and and this song! Thank you for posting it making it so easy to find :)

  • Saw this band open for the Dobbie Brothers sometime in 1979 - was great show!

  • @mslisamart99 Cool, I bet it was. 2 great bands like that together, Wow!

  • I made a list the other night of the top 10 songs that I could not ever bear being unable to hear ever again, and this topped the list, no question. So beautiful, romantic, haunting, GOD I love it.

  • The past is gone. We can't live in it. It's not living. Today is that future. Things don't make us happy...better....they just fill that emptiness of want. What we want and need...we can only get from within. And it is way more special when it's shared with someone who cares. Dreams are only dreams. What is real is what makes us live. Odds are...it will work.....you just have to decide what's it worth to you. Not in money value...but in the heart.

  • The one guy or girl that disliked this song is a jerk ;-) ...

  • ACTUALLY FOR MYSELF, I WANT TO BURN AWAY MY PAST AND KILL IT, KICK IT IN THE ASS AND MOVE ONTO A BETTER FUTURE..THATS ALL I WANT FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND NEW YEARS....WHAT ARE THE ODDS????

  • TIMELESS! THANKS FOR POSTING.

  • TRIPPIN AND LOVIN DAYS OF YESTERYEAR...THE VERY BEST OF ALL TIMES!

  • One of the best songs ever..loved this group and the voices were excellent..wish this kind of music was still alive..awesomeeee :)

  • this song is really a response to Knights in White Satin in sentiments and feel of music...

  • DennisB3533,, your so right on... amazing song... when I was a kid and heard it it hit me so deeply and has never diminished in its feeling... it's a mystic piece really...

  • wonderful music... i remember this song when it first came on and it still gives me goose bumps and brings tears to my eyes.. Moody Blues sounding in a continuation of that good bluesy and mystic feeling...

  • Everything we feel for this music and time period, the first loves and lost loves, the good times with old friends, the carefree times, the music that's not made anymore. It's the same comments our kids will be posting in 20 or 30years from now. I just enjoy reading these and seeing how so many people have the same thoughts and feelings come back to them when they here this music as I do growing up in the 70's and 80's in Fla.

  • Thank you for sharing!!!!!!

  • I agree...to go back...even briefly...would be a great gift...the 70's were an incredible time to be alive...there will never be that kind of pure talent again...

  • I was in basic training at Ft Leonard Wood Missouri when I bought this album in 75.

  • Hey guys, you're right! This is a great song and 1975 was a good year; I graduated from high school that year. The 70's really were the best, and the music from that that period was alright. I'll let you all know when I finish building my time machine--I'm almost there!!!

  • 1975 baby!

  • I"M wrong wrong wrong to keep holdin" on ....my yesterdays have all gone bye!!

  • love this song this is how real music sounds people hold on to yesterdays

  • I was 16 and life was idyllic. Life was just so much smoother then, not jagged and sharp like it is today. I had a girlfriend who had beautiful feminine curves, not twiggy-like and boney. I have her back after 36 years. Right on!

  • @SuperZayna, the album "Ambrosia" wasn't released until 1975, who did this before them???

  • @mrkinthdrk

Nobody did this before them- they wrote this

  • @reister828 I know this reister, it was a rhetorical question to super zeyna, read his post....

  • They never play this great song on the radio anymore and i think its way better than anything Ambrosia has ever done. It's all good but this one breaks my heart and brings back romance like none of their others.

  • Their best tune by far. Thanks!

  • think about the words people we will allways think bout our yesterdays great song that special someone we once held in our arms could not wait till we saw them again saw that look in their eyes wow----------

  • Thank God somebody finally posted the recorded version of this great song. Been my favorite for years- thanks for posting.

  • first time this song came out was in 1971-i was in high school back then!

  • @SuperZayna1 according to your age....you weren't even born in 1971?? song came out in 1975

  • first time this song came out was in 1971

  • isn't that most people's problems ' holdin on to yesterday' need to move on

  • i was 12/13 & i remember thinkin' i will remember this song in the Future: it is 2011!

here it is...it has taken this long...to find Him....Mission Control, all systems go-

He Loves Me..." [thanks --Over & Out]

{Dragon Lover} the past has caught up with the Future* m m ! Glad i kept holdin On........*****

  • awsome song great band love it

  • i guess the lyrics were self fulfilling. i was also a kid in the 70's and that time just felt like no matter what happened prior or in the future, we have a slice of eternity hearing that music again today; but you had to be there.

  • I love this song.this song always makes me cry but in a good way.

  • I don't know if this was just a S. California thing or what.....but I remember back in the 70s whenever a song had a really strong or interesting solo, the d j would describe the song as "tasty".......this is one very "Tasty" tune.

  • great headphone and weed tune!

  • this is absolutely my ALL TIME FAVORITE song. I've always loved 70's "soft rock" but when I heard this for the first time (July 22, 2006, I will never ever forget it), I literally got chills and realized it is so much BETTER than any soft rock! The number of times I have listened to it has numbered in the hundreds in the last five years. Thanks SO MUCH for posting!!

  • I'm 59 years old and have heard some great music in my day- this is my favorite song of all time. Way underrated

  • Boswell...Roxxxxxxxxxx..:)

  • I would love to go back to the seventies! Nothing like the music & everything else. THE BEST MUSIC EVER came out of that time.

  • San Francisco, 1975, on the roof top having this song being played while I was with my friends. Being 13yrs old then, it still brings me back to those carefree and fearless times. Also got stoned for the first time. Eureka Valley rocked.

  • Very cool tune.

  • Why does that lady say "Boswell 69" at the beginning?

  • Been going crazy trying to find this song on here, so glad you posted it rock on! An all time classic from a truly amazing band, this song will never ever fade with time but live on.

  • I've always loved this song.I used to have this album.

  • ALL, I can do is do a Quantum Reality Reversal n Dive Back ... to the very moment I First hear this song, Ambrosias first chartBuster n my Heart was Drawn in like a Moth yo a flame ... ... ... And STILL IS ...

  • And many thanks to Boswell69......memories from summer 1975.

  • Beautiful.....this should be played and heard more often. We hear all the same old stuff over and over on the radio. Thanks you tube.

  • I grade this as one of the best all around songs ever recorded. My teen years were the 70s. How times have changed. There is a haunting quality coming from the entire song.

  • ok so what is boswell 69 ?

  • This is the best time ever for me, yeah!! great "NO MOBILE PHONES, ITERNET, ETC".......but we had great music and not many wars like today, terrorism, etc....everything was just fine, I miss the 70's when I was young............

  • @auscorpio7 i agree with you totally. so far away but music brings those days back closer again.

  • LATE NIGHT IN THE 70'S THINKING ABOUT THAT SPECIAL GIRL AND HEARING THIS ON THE FM RADIO.....

  • this song haunts me and grabs my soul to remember to hold on to yesterday because its in our blood to hold on please dont forget this love we have for good music and that special lady you know who you are hoold on

  • One of my favorite 70's Tunes! I was in high school when this came out. This song made me an instant fan. The music of the 70's was far better than what we have today. Awesome Tune!

  • love it , have the album , this is just easier

  • LUVVVVV this song!

  • The lead vocal has such feeling and depth .....

  • Gut wrenching! I recall 1975 when I broke up with my first love. I was on my way to community college and had to pull off the dam road when this song came on "Keener 14". I haven't forgotten this song since. Thanks.

  • i was 10 when this was a hit back in San Miguel , El Salvador Central America ... Yeah 1975.....Those memories .......
