I attached a song that I wrote about 4 years ago. (Low down dirty rat) And I see we are on the same page. I'm in the Netherlands now. Are you going to play on the North Sea Jazz or The Hague Jazz this year? Let's get together and make something special!
I cannot attach a link, so look under my videos, called New Orleans ... you will love this blues.
I really like this artist. He keeps it real like music used to be, coming from the soul. It doesn't have to be loud, complicated, hard to understand. In fact just the opposite. The blues endures as I am sure Mr. Mo will for years.
I think he's Robert Johnson reincarnated. This man is so talented, and it's a shame he does not get the recognition that these untalented twits get these days.
I'M A NEW 2010 ACOUSTIC BLUES ARTIST FROM MISSISSIPPI, 1930 STYLE! I want to bring back this forgotten style to this new generation with NEW original songs, dirty south style! I will upload first song introduction November 25th. I hope you join me in this journey by SUBSCRIBING! Thanks!
@toddallenhooper are you refering to the thing he did around 1:50? I think what happened was he changed the 8th note feel from triplet to even. It was a killer effect sounded great =)
I Love Keb...saw him many times when no one paid attention to him,..he not only plays REAL blues...he WRITES great songs..many people can PLAY it...he can play AND Write...thats rare.
I love this guy! I couldn't see Robert Johnson-but this gent just takes us to that special place. Rory Gallagher could do that too. Thanks for this post1
@dovey16 You've obviously never seen or heard Rory Gallagher which is a shame. Don't get me wrong Keb Mo is absolutely fantastic but don't disregard Rory just because he was White and Irish! lol
Since about three minutes I sit here considering what to write - he simply leaves me speechless, as I don't find a word to express how much love this music.
my brother played with keb mo at Harvelles in Santa monica, played two of kevins electrics and joined in with the band. what an experience, he wont shut up about it lol
I've been listening to Keb for about six years now. I first saw him in Charleston, SC and picked up his CD. His voice is perfect... and what can you say about the way he treats a guitar? Perfect!
His stuff with the band is great too, but man, I wish he'd just play solo and stick with the blues form most of the time. The groove here is really, really, spectacular! That's so great how he goes out of the shuffle into the straight four at 1:54 and back into the shuffle. Of course that he really digs Robert Johnson is well known...he did it so good!
Great song and of course very cool playing ! I like a lot the style of Keb Mo he started at the same time than Ben Harper and he really makes his own stuff Great artist ! Thanks for posting this.
His style sounds a lot like Robert Johnson's. I think he mimics Johnson pretty well, exp. with "Sweet Home Chicago", best cover of that track i've ever heard.
Dig that seagull guitar. Sounds awesome in a master's hands. Can't get enuff of keb mo!!!

playing and singing the blues isn't a black or white thing. it comes from the soul and for a very few select musicians...by living it.

actually it's a black thang
