You guys are doing it wrong. The green gems you have is your timer for Kakusei mode. When you enter Kakusei the bullets turn purple and slow down. You also get way more powerful, especially Asagi. If gems reach 0 then you go into overdrive mode where the bullets turn red and move a lot faster so make sure to get out before then. Kakusei mode will help with dodging and you'll defeat the bosses much faster. You'll get gold that way too which you can use to enter Kakusei Zesshikai.
