  • I think it's pretty obvious that Rusell was definitely playing for real. In no way did that performance look fake.

  • @JerkbagProductions But it's also pretty obvious that it says that Slide Hampton did the Trombone part in the end credits. I did sense a little faking from him though. It's like trying to Lip Sync.. but to anyone who's played an instrument, especially a Trombone player in this case, you can spot a fake.

Not saying man can't act. But let's give credit where credit is due. I love the guy's acting, he does a marvelous job.

The Jazz here was phenomenal over all. Quit the enjoyment to hear.

  • @DrBardDeMuse Yeah, I agree. I was just having a little fun, since it was pretty obvious that Russell wasn't playing. It's really hard to convincingly fake playing an instrument.

Agreed about the jazz, too. They lined up some all-time greats for this, and it's nice to see such meaningful and important music celebrated.

  • The music of the Cosby Show was just amazing.

  • they had this kind of entertainment back then. now we have Ke$ha =/

  • Gotta love jazz!!

  • i love this how nd rusell...never knew an old person could be that cool<33

  • That trombone playing has to be some of the worst acting ever put on tv.

  • I was wondering if any of you know have information on the artist/track for the slow tune at the end when Claire and Cliff are dancing.

I wouldn't mind the information on the group session but the former is more important.

  • I am always maazed at the talent they had back then! I never knew until today that the actor playing Rusell wasn't really playing the trombone- he does a very good job in acting that he does :)

  • Man! I love instrumental jazz. I would've loved to have been there. Those guys were good. If I was born in the time when jazz was swinging, I would've been hot on the scene.

  • Man that was wicked jazz

  • With the GREAT Tito Puente on the timbales (white haired gentleman with some lines after the Jazz Caravan was introduced)

  • @REDWOLF9544 no kidding

  • can some please tell me where i can find the episode of the cosby show where theo and his friend have to read shakespeare and christopher plummer was a guest on the show to me that was the best episode for me anyway. thank you blessed be

  • @hanno21664 it's called theo and cockroach i think and god bless you to

  • @hanno21664 it's called simply "Shakespeare" from Season 4. Someone suggested "Theo and Cockroach" but that one's from Season 2 and they decide to read some sort of CliffsNotes of "Macbeth" rather than read the play. In "Shakespeare" they have to read "Julius Caesar."

  • Jimmy Heath on Tenor. Killer.

  • You could always count on some good jazz on Cosby. But even when I was younger, I used to think "I wonder if he's ever seen a trombone played before". Something tells me he didn't do much research LOL!
