self defense classes teach you to not stop until the threat is eliminated and so do most states self defense laws. the guy is inocent just doing what he was legaly told to do.

Cases like this are difficult because while we want justice we fail to remember how we get that justice. While he had every right to defend and protect himself, he didn't have a right to fire upon and continue to fire upon an unarmed, none threatening individual. Even police officers are told this. Slight overkill.. Although I think the guy weighed up his options when he turned his back on the kid, and came back to make sure he wouldn't get up again, just to be on the safe side. Imagine if the kid had got up and killed him while his back was turned, on the phone to the police? I think any sane person would have thought to do something like this.

How can you determine that the first round was a head shot? The answer is, you can't. Even if he was already dead, that wouldn't justify shooting the person again. In short, it was murder. The pharmacist is guilty of murder, therefore not an innocent person. Making sure someone is dead is called 'taking the law into your own hands.' It's definitely not self defense.

Im from Germany and Im not familiar with the criminal law of Oklahoma, but here it says you can "defend yourself with the necessary means against a current attack". the sentence in the description tells me that it might be similiar. no way an unconscios guy can be regarded as a "current attack".

If you go around threatening people with a gun you've got to expect a reaction, and surely it's a risk of the "trade" that you might just get a massive over reaction.
That's the trouble with this type of thing, different people react differently to the same situation.

Slight overkill.. Although I think the guy weighed up his options when he turned his back on the kid, and came back to make sure he wouldn't get up again, just to be on the safe side. How can you determine that the first round was a head shot? The answer is, you can't. Even if he was already dead, that wouldn't justify shooting the person again. In short, it was murder. The pharmacist is guilty of murder, therefore not an innocent person. Making sure someone is dead is called 'taking the law into your own hands.' It's definitely not self defense.

@endwelfare you chase down someone who wasnt going to use their weapon on you in the first place, then murder him over money? what the fuck is wrong with you? I would have no problem if he shot him in the store during the robbery, but he chased down him, which then became murder. @jmorris6758 what are you talking about the kids did shoot at him several times and he was hit. both teens had guns and what was to stop the kid on the ground from getting up and shooting some more. he made the right choice. i guarantee if you had shot the kid and then went over and shot him again and then ran to chase the other then things would be ok, but since he ran first hes guilty of murder. and dont forget that this guy was minding his own business at work

Children soldiers were used and are used in Africa and they are led by monsters to commit atrocities AGE alone should not be a consideration when deciding weather to fire or not. The clerk at most should've been charged with voluntary manslaughter imperfect self-defense. First degree murder DOES NOT correctly define what is shown here. He did not pre meditate anything, it was in a rash of self defense and malice that caused that. A travesty of justice and the jury represents our society, stupidity and ignorance at its finest.
