For all people wondering, @badbrov and kaulas, they are more complicated than that. It's not clingfilm or cling wrap, that stuff is too heavy. It's a special material that is SUPER light made for airplanes. It is all made out of balsa wood and covered with this stuff. Some of them use motors, but they aren't ones that you can buy, they are very small and made by hand. Also, you would need a reciever and servos to make them move, which are VERY expensive. These are very complex and expensive.

I believe the formula for microfilm is 50% butrate dope,50% glycerin dropped on water and lifted when dry with a wire hoop,then transferred to frame and hot wired to frame very carefully. Some models I made used thin saran wrap as i could never get the microfilm ingrediants as a kid.

I forgot the formula to make the transparent covering...one of the ingredients is glycerin.

I don't think you get it Charlesquieto your "broked" choppers receiver weighs more than these planes all up weight.. these have very special "servos" batteries and motors.. (the ones that were RC the rubber band powered ones were free flight) the only thing you have that you could use with these is your transmitter..

faster props=thicker rubber=more weight, also for thicker rubber you need a stronger body which is also more weight

also, a faster prop means you need many many more turns on the elastic band in order to achieve a flight longer than a couple seconds... this means, as you said, a thicker elastic and more turns therefore a stronger body.

Basically you get a faster shorter flight.
