  • @Coltsfan do not insult other people's languages. It backfires on you.就像这样。

  • I love you!!!! China..forever!!!

  • @961816ronald Simplifying Chinese was a necessity for the sake of universal literacy. Even with simplified Chinese, it takes Chinese people years and years to learn all the characters they need. With traditional Chinese it is even worse. Try learning to write 體 instead of 体! Plus, when you look at a web page in traditional characters you need to enlarge the writing a lot to even be able to read it.

  • @Coltsfan hi. I hope you don't mind if I reply in English. I am learning Chinese and I currently live in Beijing, but I still find it difficult to express myself in Chinese on such a difficult topic. I don't see why simplifying the characters means losing China's traditional culture. As long as the basic language and writing system remains the same, does it matter if the radicals which make up the characters are simplified a bit?

  • @Coltsfan Furthermore, remember that simplifyng the characters is not necessarily a "communist" thing. Even before Mao Zedong took power, many Chinese intellectuals wanted to simplify the writing system, and not all of them were Communists. Even the Japanese have simplified the Chinese characters which they use by the way, although their simplification system is different. The truth is that the old characters are impractically complicated and difficult to learn. Are you Taiwanese by any chance?

  • @Ilikelink Yes, I am Taiwanese, but I am fluent in Japanese and I can tell you that their character simplification is something I can support. I mentioned that some characters need to be cut down; their process was infinitely more reasonable than what the Communists did. Of the 3K-4K characters that you need to be fluent, I'd say they cut less than 200, maybe less than 100. In response, I'd say that English is too complex. Instead of "laugh," lets make it "laf," and turn "because" to "bcoz."

  • @Coltsfan Actually I think simplifying English spelling would be an excellent idea, even though if someone tried it many native English speakers would certainly complain as well, because they would argue that so much ancient culture lies in their illogical spelling!

  • @Ilikelink lol well like Chinese, I think English is a beautiful language and should stay the way it is.

  • I love you deeply,My CHINA!

  • 56 races form the gigantic race of China!

We have no racial discriminations; nobody has to sell his house because a black family move in. China is the genuine place for racial harmony!

  • @david1234lee that is funny but so damn true

  • @lahhal92

You bet. Or no pregnant wome had to stand up and concede her seat to a guy from a different race! It is imperfect but comfortable.

  • @david1234lee don't exagerate. A lot of Han people don't like the Uyghurs

  • @Ilikelink

Those are ignorant Hans. Uyghurs are great people and there are parts of the great family in China.

  • @david1234lee yes, but exactly ignorant Hans also exist. That is the point.

  • @Ilikelink

I totally agree with you. I just came back from a trip to China for about 5 weeks. I met with lots of ignorant Hans. I understand this part very well. I guess most Hans are honest and good people who want to get along with Uyghurs and build up a good nation together. White Europeans have enslaved the rest of the world and we should no longer fall into their traps! lkook at how native Americans were mistreated, how Iraq people were murdered. Together, we win!

  • @Ilikelink

    also,ignorant Uyghurs exist.Am I right?)

  • @wlwlnana absolutely. I have met some Uyghur students in Beijing who told me that the Chinese (they mean the Han) "have no civilization". A bit ridicolous, hey?

  • @Ilikelink

hehe,it's not unexpected for me)a few Uyghurs may be nice, but many of them~mie~

They actually didn't just mean Han)if they did, there must be something bad they only want to emphasis for especially bashing Han.

  • @wlwlnana Well when they say China, don't they mean the Han?

  • @Ilikelink

who knows?)they live in China, don't they understand China is a big country consists of 56 nationalities?)

  • @wlwlnana yes, but let's not lose sight of the fact that the Han make up over 90% of the population of the country, and what people usually refer to as Chinese culture is actually Han culture. Even the Chinese languages is called 汉语, or "the Han language".

  • Comment removed

  • @Ilikelink

even though there 90% of the population is Han,how can you or they forget the left 10%?Not to mention, why did they only blame Han?Did they ever want to know anyother ethnic minoritiy except themselvies? When meeting any case in China, they probably will call any Chinese "Han")))am I right?Of course all of us need Han language,or how can all the Chinese communicate with each other? And now,we use English, does it make sense?)Do you think you or me or all of us have been Westernized?

  • @wlwlnana when did I say that I forget the remaining 10%? Are you Chinese, by the way? I am not saying that the Chinese don't need the Han languages, I am just pointing out that "China" and "Han" are pretty interchangeable in most contexts.

  • @Ilikelink

~_ ~don't know why the two words got interchangeableXP

  • @wlwlnana isn't it pretty obvious why? Because historically the Han are the people who really identify with the concept of "China". When people think of Chinese culture, they think of the Han language, of Han theatre, Han art. Nobody thinks of Uyghur theatre or of Tibetan music. That's the simple fact.

  • @Ilikelink whats han
