  • Please don't speak on things you don't know about. Every member of the band is christistian. ALL of their songs speak of God and His ability to change our circumstances if we let Him. Having had the opportunity to tour with these guys, talk to them and see what's really going on, I can tell you right now that these guys are all about their God. True, Lifehouse isn't labeled as a Christian band but they function that way. And Jason said he's not religious but he's believes in God. Not the same.

  • I'm pretty sure I would have lost my mind if I was there in person. Beautiful song, great live performance.

  • i have to say, lifehouse isnt a top band to see live. i love them, but he's super flat. its all right though. still epic song/band

  • Jason's made it sooooo clear.that they've never been a christian band. Yes he's religious. Not a christian band

  • my dad died last night and this was the first song to come to mind....Love ya Dad and miss you already

  • @lilredhead76 OMG i'm soo sorry :'(

  • not that i have a problem with religion or those who follow one, but not everything has to be about god. I can understand how those who are religious can see it but speaking as a not religious person cant i just say i love the song?

  • This song touches me like no other except Round here in an unplugged version (Counting Crows)

  • is about GOd...and GOD is love ! God is everything...

  • Lifehouse is not a christian band, and they never were. A misconception about them. They have said this in multiple interviews. Jason however did write a handful of songs on earlier albums for spiritual reasons. However he did write them in a way where it was left open to interpretation, so it could be interpreted other ways as well, its the beauty of his writing. :) I agree with the below comment this song is about a little of everything. No pun intended, lol.

  • @penguin384 Well said..!!

  • Jason did not write this song about god. "That's a super-special song for me. It seems to really connect with other people, too. It's one of those songs that every time I played it, a new part came to it. That's why it's so long and kind of mysterious. It's a bunch of different bits and pieces, but it has power because it kind of sums up everything I'm about - lyrically and in terms of my relationships and Lifehouse overall. So I think it's a perfect way to end the record."

  • I was at youth when a group did a skit with this song... it brought me to tears

  • A simple search can answer your question about the band members being Christian.

You can label music or bands as being "Christian" but really, God looks at your heart, and music is just an art form of sound and silence.

  • they is christian

  • what year is this?

  • by far, one of my favorite songs! needs more ebow, haha. :)

  • Regarding Christian or not, ask yourself, have they ever said in plain language, "I/We are Christians and believe in God"? -If not, ask yourself why you even bother bringing Jesus and God up in every possible Lifehouse thread. We Atheists leave you alone, be a sport and return the favour.

And yes, I truly TRULY am a believer of Lifehouse and their music, as so many others)(

  • @maraux1972 but if youre going to hell should i not bother?

  • Jesus, my first Love ♥

  • If Jason we're a Christian would he not give a reason for his hope? Millions of people are listening to a man pour out his heart to Christ and he says in interviews that he leaves it up to interpretation. Look into his eyes, he's having communion!

  • @daddycubjudah I think it's about a girl

  • @joose89 its abt jesus..

  • Amen!!

  • Well I think he wrotte this song for the tender juice 99 cents mcdonalds double cheesburger:)

  • I wish I could sing to God with such a voice. Bless you guys.

  • It looks like there is a bit of an argument about the meaning of the song. It is about his relationship with Christ, and whether or not that's what it means to you is fine. It's a powerful song that can impact you in different fronts.

  • are they Christian or not

  • Does it really matter...place anyone in everything and its universal. They put a studio version on their new album Smoke & Mirrors!

  • @zannapics but the studio version is not as good as the first.!

  • @zannapics omg I love that version

  • @zannapics they are christians.. one of the best christian bands ever. ;)

  • @zannapics The "everything" in the song isn't about universalism, it's about everything drawing it's meaning from God, not God drawing it's meaning from everything. Think about it.

  • Yes they are with an alternative rock style of worship.

  • @goodmediaproductions - the lead singer Jason Wade definitely is. I think their drummer is too, or at least he used to be. Their bassist and current lead guitarist aren't. When they started out however, all the members were Christian.

  • @goodmediaproductions i know jason is...

  • @goodmediaproductions they arent a Christian Band but, they make Christian Music....i dont know why they do it like that but i might be cause christian bands dont make as much money as secular bands do, The Songs "Everything, and Storm" are christian based songs , hope this helped you

  • @goodmediaproductions They have admited before that most of their songs are to God.

  • @goodmediaproductions they are Christian, but this song is to be interpreted anyway you want. Jason has stated this song is about his relationship with God

  • @goodmediaproductions lead singer Jason Wade is a Christian and so is one other member, not sure which. The original 3 were all Christian

  • @goodmediaproductions Jason Wade is a Christian but the band is not

  • @goodmediaproductions

I don't think that's a question that any of us can answer except for them.

  • @goodmediaproductions the band isnt christian but the lead singer is and some of their music reflects on that because he writes most of the songs

  • @goodmediaproductions Even if I got this song dedicated to god. I dedicated this song to a boyfriend ..

  • @goodmediaproductions Yes, they are Christian. And they don't hide it at a show. You should see them in concert sometime!

  • I love this song and the skits are powerful and touchy!

  • It's a beautiful song that can mean anything to anyone. People can intepret it as about God or first loves or whatever. It doesnt matter. Just shut up and enjoy the music

  • it's about god! i'm sure!!! or it is about a drug :) it can be true :) who know it?? best song ever. 5*

  • @ElectroFlavor lawl i dont mean to offend anyone but sometime's i think god was made by people on drugs so for me thats the same thing.. if you want to have faith in a god.. ( any god) thats just fine... but for me this song has a different meaning.. Grtzzz

  • no, it's about God. believe me, it is.

  • I say it's about GOD. who else could be descrived by such words?

He sings with his heart.. and you see that it is about GOD

  • @schneggli91 BUT if you love something enough, it can be about anything if not EVERYTHING.

It could be about your significant other, your dog, mac and cheese, or God.

That is the true beauty of this song.

     I respect your view...

  • "Everything" is a song by the rock band Lifehouse. It is the last song on their debut album No Name Face. Contrary to popular belief, its lyrical content is not New Age, but Christian, due to the fact that Jason Wade grew up in a Christian family and wrote the song based on his faith.

  • Which is how he interprets it, but the way he writes a song leaves it open for anyone to listen to the song and draw their own conclusions.

This is they way he wrote many of the earlier Lifehouse songs, and how so many of them were able to touch so many people in different ways. There lies the true beauty of his work.

  • anthony... thats not him doing that skit... now toddle off back to church

  • want this song for my wedding actually..

  • This song is about a girl who passed, and was an angel to him....

  • actually it's about God. watch the Everything skit.

  • no actually it is about the first love of his life - he has told the story in several of his concerts when they sing it. he acknowledges people could personally interpret it to mean God, Jesus, Muhammad, etc and churches have made their own skits for it - but that is not what Jason personally wrote the song about.

  • iv always thought this was bout a girl but iv recently heard it used at church. o well haha use it both ways works

  • I love Jason's voice!!! He's amazing!!!

  • Comment removed

  • watch the everything skit and understand it.........

You will see it's about God.

  • One of the most amazing worship songs ever. God bless those guys!

  • i think it could be any kind of song not just necesseraly a worship song.

  • Buena Canción! Me acerca a Dios:)

  • what is the thing in his hands while they're playing the intro part. like a slide or something?

  • It's an ebow

  • its caled an EBOW...it is magnetic and it goes over the strings and gives it a violin..ish sound!!

  • @GabrielaY31 amen to that dude! :)

  • If my heart has a song...this is it.

  • marry me jason!!!!

    i luv u :D

  • This is one of my favourite songs!

  • this song is so touching and it has inspired so many nonbelievers to follow jesus thankyou lifehouse you have helped so many people

  • hey keep your comments to yourself if they're about my religion I don't go around and say stuff like that about you keep it clean

  • there wasn't anything "unclean" said here... It can be about anything, not specifically Christian beliefs and Jesus. He was simple stating his opinion. Back off.

  • SOmeone has probs

  • i agree, its a wonderful song, its also very inspiring and due to it being a perspective song i think its called, it isnt specefic about jesus, it can be related to anything really, and i use it to refer to my lover , its a touching song that put me on the brink of tears when i heard it,

  • oh wow. but yeah hes sed in interviews it is about Jesus and God to him. but agree, u can make it to whatever u wnt :]

  • Amen. Thank You God.

  • the riff at the end is probably one fo the guys using a loop pedal

  • that was Salt Lake City unless my memory fails me..

  • i think its a half step down..most artist will make tracks in higher keys but will switch to lower keys if they cant hit all the higher notes

  • and it´s because a half step lower sounds better

  • this song is intended for GOD AND I LOVE GODD and i love this song!!!!!!

  • oh, 2002..hehe, I posted before hearing the end-Nevamind! Xp

  • was this 2006 Torino? I don't remember this. Nice rendition.

  • The anouncher says at the end that it's the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

  • haha so...at the end there is a high lead guitar riff that neither guitarist is playing...

  • I respect the band, but the song sound a little flat or something. I don't know if its just a new key or me. It seems the singer isn't opening his mouth, because in the original version I can make out what he's saying but in this one I cant

  • yea your right you cant really hear the words.

  • maybe he's just cold..they play live at the winter olympics and I don't think it's warm on the stage^^

I like the intro even if the singing part is a bit flat as you mentioned..but a wonderful song =)

  • love the song...and the long hair

  • I love how they basically redid the music for this song, yet kept the lyrics and the overall melody, and it's just as awe-inspiring as the original.

  • Good Song......Good music....Good Guitar...Good all....Good Video.....thanks for the video

  • chills every time

  • I think it's just the style he was going for

  • que efecto usa ?

  • love love it

  • i think everyone should take this song however they want.....god....partner...family...whichever coz its such a powerful and emotional song it can go for whatever...i no it probably is about gos but take it anyway u want

  • This is the best song i ever heard about.

I have listen to it, at least! onehundrentimes on itunes

  • lyrics are so simple but the melody takes my breath away

  • wow I just can't help noticing Jason looks soo young in these videos..

  • well, he was somewhere around 21 then...

  • By hearing the lyrics I could tell that Jason really was born in a religious christian family

  • "would u tell me how could it be better than this"

"you hold me in your hands, you never let me fall"

these lines clearly says its about God... u can also apply a certain in your life, but its meant for God

  • I agree

  • i miss the 1st season of smallville.

  • i love this song is very special for me.....

  • which Olympics??????????????

  • 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah

  • that kind of lyrics can't apply to humankind! it's too emotional, too deep, too devoted! for sure, he wrote this song for spiritual purpose, God!

  • I think Lifehouse wants to maintain its mainstream sound, so they keep the lyrics kind of ambiguous. But I can't see a love song between two people having the line "You are the light to my soul..." To me it's a love song to God

  • i think it could be either...but i sing it to God!

  • i love this song. for me, i interpret it for two characters in my story. They loved each other a lot and would have spent their entire lives together. but she sacrificed herself for him and she died. he was devastated to the point of near insanity. but a few monthes later, he saw her again in his dreams and she told him she was never going to leave him and death wasn't going to stop her. it was very emotional

  • Jason has said numerous times his lyrics are up for personal interpretation! Theres no definate meaning to any Lifehouse song, you take your own meaning from them.

  • actually, if you go to their site, u'll find out that this song is about Music's importance in Wade's life..

  • ...."it tells the love that God has for mankind" ...... Well you really can say nothing and everything on the web !! hi hi

  • this song is both a Christian and a love song, cause it tells the love that God has for mankind

  • the best!!!!

  • I discovered Lifehouse only recently via a Youtube video and I love their sound! Heard they're a Christian rock band but I never would've known from this song. I thought it was an intense love song to a beloved. I guess that can be GOD too! Now about that line...would you take me in? Take me deeper now? Hmmmmmm.....Thanks for video!

  • does anyone nkow that this is a christian song.....not an actualy luv song? ...but it can be taken both ways....."cuz you all i want, your all i need, your everything" singin to god...yup./.... just informing.....i luv da song!!

  • man, ppl say that because there a Christian rock band, this is really a love song, for ex, when u lose the person or girl u love u fall to depression, but u dont give up, listen to the song in your way, not wat others say about it, and u tell me wat u think..

  • I love this song!

  • Love this song...
