Ahoy, '09 Mates, The fire trucks and police were there for the original fire SAt. and then back around mid day Sunday, The stench was bad, the firemen were hosing themselves off, after the second round of fire fighting. I use to pick berries on that corner.
i feel for those who were in fear for their homes. however this is why you need to research what is around the home you are intereted in buying!! this warehouse has been located in this area for 15-20yrs now and there was nothing around it but open fields. it looks like the devolper didnt think this out to the fullest! im not now nor have i ever been an employee of Ram chemical but i do work in the industry and know what can happen when storing large amounts of chemicals.
I live on Greenhouse and 529 and drive by here everyday to work. Thank God the fire was contained and didn't spread, hopefully to other homes. I didn't know about this 'til today. On Sunday I tired to get down here but there was a police block. Now I know why. Chemical plants in Residential is a bad idea for all, sorry RAM.
We live in Westfield and hit the detour just a block away soon after the fire started. We could still see the smoke plume clearly at Jones Rd & FM 1960. The only thing worse I've seen was the gas line explosion last year to the North. I hope you, the family & the cats are all OK. Very scary to have this happen so close to home! Thanks for the vid.
Ahoy, neighbors, Why yes, I believe that they should relocate, as this is a somewhat newly developed neighborhood area, w/ nursery schools around, w/ in a mile or two of the fire.
I saw the smoke from Waller while out in the field carrying off round bales of hay. I twittered that the dark clouds looked like rain clouds just a little funny and got a message back that there was an explosion in West Houston. 2 hours later my dad calls says there's something on tv about it and only a blurb.
Yuck! Glad you're not any closer! Bless you for getting the kitties ready to go, just in case. Hope the people getting hit by that cloud got everybody out, too!
I miss your videos! Your cardboard man is creeping me out!
My comment about the zoning laws or lack thereof could also apply to the fact they allowed an entire neighborhood to be build around a warehouse that stored hazardous chemicals. Don't care which came first, warehouse or neighborhood, mixing the two is dangerous! I just hope no one was hurt and the homes surrounded by the smoke will be ok.
ram was there before the neighboorhoods were built check your facts your parents should have researched the hood before you moved also why do you live in katy it sucks anyway
I have news for you Mate, Katy is what it is, and Ram in not in flaming Katy, but on Keith-Harrow, on the corner of my neighborhood, the damned company did not even send the neighborHOODS, that's plural any explanation or apology, or warning for the 3 days that they pollited our neighborHOODS w/ toxic chemicals. You check your bleeding facts, you suck up newbie.OneFineDockRocker in recovering Houston, T/x
We live close to there, they said it was muratic acid, chlorine and boric acid. Stinks! I can't believe our zoning laws (or lack of them) that they can build places like this smack in the middle of neighborhoods. I bet the houses right across the street will stink forever! There's another video on CNN that shows how the smoke enveloped those houses. Scary!
Ram was there before the idiots and houses. Go smoke some crack you losers. I don't work for RAM, just buy product from them!

Ah, the lack of zoning has made Ram the enemy, despite the fact they were here first. Thanks tifftigger for pointing that out.

when ram set up this warehouse 15- 20 yrs ago there wasnt anything around them but open fields. so honestly it's not their fault.

We in this community need to make sure that they don't rebuild here. They need to relocate.
