Im not sayin he wouldve been a first round pick but at least a borderline first early second rounder...6ft 3 217 pounds..he is big and strong and had above average speed...he had breakaway speed and if u had to clock him he probrobly ran a 4.45 40 or a 4.40...i really wanted to see him in the nfl...so even though im a cubs fan it was a bittersweet signing..he was one of the best recievers in college football history..matchup nightmare..not liek calvin johnson but still scary
The ironic thing about that?...that headset-throwing coach is John Tenuta...he was the defensive coordinator for Georgia Tech at that time, but NOW he's the D-Coordinator for the Irish! Funny how things work like that.
jeff would have been a pro bowl WR. im dissapointed that he choose baseball over football but i cant blame him. if you compare being a pitcher to a WR, WR get beat a lot. its more demanding on the body
not really doesnt have the outside speed to beat corners in the pros doesnt run his good routs at all.about the only thing you can say is good about him is his hand and jumping ablity
yeah he doesnt have the elite speed to beat nfl corners. but he would have been such a end zone threat. his 6'5 height plus his hands and jumping ability, thats unstopalble
you bring up some good points but look at the video.he doesnt have the outside speed and doesnt run good routs the only good routs he runs is the out rout, and pass through the middle.if i had to compare samardzija to some 1 it would be that whiteboy that plays for the rams drew bennet
How many WR's run great routes in college compared to the pro's?
Those are usually the same 3 routes that all the big notch WR's run out of college.
So they have a rookie season to fix the kinks.. which is why there's usually a 3 year rule for WR's. 3 years to get acquainted to the speed of the pro game and get a rapport with the QB.
So sure he doesn't have the elite outside speed.
But Neither did Jerry Rice or Hines. He has everything else you look in a WR. Other things can be corrected.
I'd have to disagree about him not running good routes, that was alot of the reason why he was so good. You need to understand just because it wasn't a crisp dig route or 3 step slant doesnt mean it wasn't good route running. He faced alot of zone coverage which isnt about running precise routes its about finding the holes and settling down in them and when teams tried manning up or jamming him they paid for it. He didnt have eliter speed but he was fast enough, all good points though
man dude he woulda been the best white wide reciever in the nfl

I don't know. I disagree. Being a great WR takes more than Elite Speed.... Or Troy Williamson would be the best WR in the NFL.
Samardzija had great hands, leaping ability, heart. He could also read his blocks well, block well himself and find soft spots in coverage.
Jerry Rice's fastest ever time recorded was 4.62. He's the greatest WR ever to play. Hines Ward is a pro-bowler and he's not exactly "Elite Speed".
Samardzija had all the tools to be a top notch and successful NFL WR!
