  • he could just bar the second fret abd it would be easier

  • this sucks

  • wow...lol yeah he really doesn't know what he's doing...you are not supposed to hold the neck of the guitar or ukulele that way. there is supposed to be a gap between the palm of your hand and the neck. but, no one else on youtube has been able to explain Bm...so at least he did that. lol

  • I do agree his movements are "arthritus inducing". But to be honest, nobody on Youtube taught B Minor as simply. If you don't like where he places his fingers, then don't do it that way! Simple!

  • i only responded in a mean way because, like with my video comment, people take expert village's content seriously. just because people like his method doesn't mean it's proper. there are more comfortable ways to play those chords, and by the way he fumbles around with his hands and changes the fingering (watch the video again) you can tell he obviously didn't know the most applicable fingering for the chords. bad habits are hard to un-teach. it IS something to get mean about. not to offend...

  • Thumb? Or not............

  • Comment removed

  • He can't even play chords properly without muting the strings and hes trying to teach it.

  • i dont like using my thumb. its uncomfortable.

  • I've been playing ukelele for a few months, so I'm by no means an expert. But personally, I like using my thumb for the bar chords. Especially E. Who cares if it's the traditional technique or not? Just play how you want to play, what feels best for you and what gets the best sound from your instrument.

  • I like how he plays. It's much easier. And it works.

  • ... Never use your thumb.

It is horrible techinque and extremely slow when you start playing faster songs.

  • i bought a ukulele yesterday and im pretty sure you dont use ur thumb.

  • There are no real rules. I always feel comfortable using my thumb for root bar chords on guitar and uke. Just whatever feels right for you.

  • okay thanks :D

  • Dude, you're calling the 4th string the 1st string! Learn your instrument before you decide to try and teach others!

  • thanks for pointing that out, that's been confusing me the whole time.

  • inadiquecy at it's greatest! this guy has no idea what he's doing, and his positions are arthritis inducing. he can really pull you in as an instructor, but he just talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk. i'd put money on the fact that this guy is just a guitar player who just started the ukulele. or maybe he's just an elementary school teacher who just started ukulele. Sorry, this is just bad.

  • Agreed

  • lol i think yes you are right but ive played guitar for 2ish years and recently bought a ukulele...whats wrong with that? lol i think im doin pretty well and i have an understanding of the uke...if anything playin guitar probs cud help you lol but you are right, this guy isnt that good.

  • @jasonsax2 could u plz then point out a better resource 2 learn this awesome instrument?thanks.

  • @Katharsis540 i apologize for the late response. some chic just annihilated me with a venomous response to my original post, and it's the first acknowledgment of that post i've ever seen. gosh... anyway. check out some other videos, there's been a few good ones since this came out. there's a good app on the iphone/itouch (guitar tool kit) that has all the chords fingerings and different voice-ings if you're interested, but it's like 10 bucks. check out the uke on wiki, send me a message for help.

  • @Katharsis540 Hawaiimusicsupply. They actually know what their talking about.

  • @jasonsax2 dude stfu. like you're any expert yourself you stupid dipshit.

  • @MrsNikkiBoo i looked at your profile, you're very young, so i have no intention in being nasty back at you. i've never had a reply with a shut the f*** up, and dipshit. upset me at first to tell the truth. i'm not an expert at the uke, but i've been teaching music for almost ten years. i know that many teachers would agree that teaching bad habits, teaching techniques that can cause injury, and experimenting in a lesson can be extremely detrimental to the growth of a student. this IS a bad vid.

  • @jasonsax2 im 14 but ive been playing guitar since i was 8. look if you dont like him then dont even bother to watch the video and comment. some people actually like his methods. I just watch the video for the actual chords. i sometimes changed the finger position but you dont have to be mean. Some people actually take these comments literal and to the heart. dont be mean.
