  • Song is right up there with Carpet Crawlers

  • Awesome jersey, Phil

  • this is the best song of Phill in Genesis, but I think the others too in this album and Wind and Wuthering

  • This is such a gorgeous song. No one hamonized on their instruments better than Genesis!

  • Obra Maestra.

  • Steve Hackett is unsurpassable! Thnx for video. Greetings from Ukraine!

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT !!!!!!!!!!

    I LOVE IT !

  • Classic Genesis! Wonderful! Thank you!

  • One of the reasons why i love Genesis so much

  • One person sneezed and accidentally pressed dislike.

  • in and out of focus

  • Great ballad!

  • min 5:54 oh...God Exist!!!!

Saludos amigo.. Saludos desde Seattle USA.

  • Steve Hacket on guitar. Wonderous!

  • @wilmagibb Shit Yeah! Correct. and Agreed.

  • Agreed

  • who the don't like this song

  • Brings back so many memories. My first encounter with Genesis. But it urks me how ppl always want to compare before and after PG... if ppl would take the time to actually listen to the compositions. We can enjoy all of it, because there are so many differences in the music - yet it sounds so familiar.

  • People who overrate Peter Gabriel's importance in Genesis surely must have missed that song, no?

  • just found this awesome track after some 35 years WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • my favourite genesis tracks ever , takes me straight back to school, so filled with emotion

  • You can't help but be emotionally touched by this song from Genesis. A powerful song, indeed, if ever I've heard one.

  • This has to be one of my all time favourite songs...amazing!

    musica

  • One of my favourite Genesis tunes. Awesome guitar work!

  • Awesome song, steve hackett's influence shows, the mechanics of atmos and the story telling as a special feel, you just get soaked by it, in dreams, live version was brilliant! fogtalk 98%

  • all the memories come flooding back.....fantastic song and lyrics never to be bettered

  • what a song! simply G-R-E-A-T!!!

  • bwo381 - So true about music evoking powerful memories. I was force-fed this stuff by my first love. It was 1978, the lights were off, the vinyl was on, it was very heady stuff indeed. Etched on my memory and my soul this Music. Wonderful Post.

  • One of those songs you never get tired of listening to. Great classic Genesis song along with many of the earlier masterpieces from Genesis.

  • Perfect

  • This song almost makes me look forward to devilfish6669's funeral, just to hear this song again. Fantasticissimo!

  • This was one of MY songs at the time, and all my friends knew it

    I still love it!!!

  • MAGNIFICAMENTE STUPENDA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you...danke....merci

  • Its all in there tea cosies, cardigans and faces launching loads of ships, apologies to Kit

    :-)))

  • Great song, tune, I think the words fall into place for my demise, so for my lush funerel this will be played not as a lament but an up lifting to people there !! what you have now hold on to and never let go.

  • thumbs up for that killer North Stars jersey

  • @TonyDucats I believe thats Bill Plagers number.

  • Phil has hair!!

  • @oldfatbubba...and Tony Banks wearing a Vancouver Canucks hockey jersey two years later in the 'Follow You, Follow Me' video...

  • thank' u from italy , to xeroOprimo !!!!! the best video

  • This has the most gorgeous chorus I've ever heard.

  • songs like this ...so beautyfull !! they dont write songs like this anymore !

  • This is amazing!

  • Ahhh takes me back to the period when music was alive, love this song, thanks for posting.

  • It moves me so much...

  • Genesis with Steve Hackett. Simply fantastic.

    5 Stars +1

  • All i can say is if you own Trick you have great taste, what a sound they created! 1976 was a very good year glad i was there!

  • @catster57 and what if you don't own it but want to? ;) Does it mean you're soon to have great taste but not until you have that album? lol. I would like to have experienced that year, but seeing as I was only born in '76, I doubt i'd have understood what was going on anyway :-D

  • @Ironlord2015 Please get it! It is still in music shops, a very good album. As to you understanding the 70s I do not think anyone did.We made it up as we went along! One thing i will say is, some say the 70s were dark and dismal, i say it was the decade when reality hit home from the flowery 60s. I would not have wanted my teens anywhere else, though i know anyone will say that about the era of their teens! Enjoy life!

  • Awesome song, spooky message but still in a way a comfort in that we are all in the same boat.

  • Genesis where out there. There songs have a deep and inner meaning to them, some of them have an inner spiritual message for us.

Out of all the bands I have listen to Genesis takes the cake.

  • @davidbwn Yes they have, that's how I feel it.. I cannot think of even few artists that have a quality like that.. Genesis is one of the most refined, creative (lyrical, theatrical), spiritually gifted, etc

I am still figuring out a lot of their lyrics, but it is very inspiring..

My favorite albums, A Trick of the Tail, From Genesis to Revelation, Selling England by the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

  • *mind blowing such a cool song and one i will never let go of

  • The greatest Genesis album will always be A Trick of the Tail.

Ripples may be the best Genesis song ever.

I only wish this lineup would have done more albums.

  • i must agree with the clitfinder when hackett went it was the beginning of the end.

  • My song! ♥♥♥♥♥

  • A magic summer evening in 1976. Indescribably in love. So long ago, but Ripples brings back a rush of memories and emotions. Only music can do that.

  • @bwo381 I don't know you but I'm welling up!!! This is about lost youth isn't it? You can't go back EVER

  • @Ismokehis me too yes i think so

  • @bwo381 Amen to that.

I can be moved to tears by this song...

  • This was the last "brilliant" album Genesis did. It was all downhill after Steve Hackett left. As good as Gabriel was, he was replaced. Steve never was. That was the end for me.

I say this as someone who lists Genesis as their most favourite band of all time. I saw them at the Glasgow Apollo in 1972 or 73 doing Foxtrot. I was one of the luckiest guys ever. Their early years produced some phenomenal music.

  • Altough I grew up with Genesis, I discovered this song relatively recently. Better later than never. Great, amazing song.

  • @PurpleInTheDeep Do yourself a favour my friend and get yourself A Trick of the Tail. I used to think Foxtrot was their best album but now think 'A Trick' is.

  • @theclitfinder Thanks, but I have the album already. Actually I have all their albums now. From Genesis To Revelation to Calling All Stations

  • @theclitfinder Trick is a terrific album. Just as good as anything they did. Period.

  • Phil a north star fan? He might of been the only one for at the time this song came they were the worst team in the NHL (expection of some expansion franchises). Here are some the player who wore the number in the mid seventies. Doug Rombough, Dave Cressman, John Flesch, Danny Grant Big names huh!

  • @Holste42 They`ve also worn Bruins and Hartford Whalers uniforms in various videos. Maybe even more. I think they probably stocked up when they toured Canada and N. America in 1976 (I think).

  • b-e-a-utiful

  • what a song,epic!!

  • very very nice

  • Thias is so amazingly beautiful. Genesis is a band that owns a huge part of my musical heart. And Phil is just the cutest little british guy I know <3

  • I (¯`v´¯) it !

  • Masterpiece

  • el maestro Phil Collins :D

  • @xero0primo El Maestro Steve Hackett amigo. Steve Hackett.

  • @xero0primo as far as i'm concerned,Genesis was a combination of all artist. The USA take is with Phil being the real "star".without him the vocals are flat and the drums drove the better songs.so i agree, these Phil songs make this group come to life!i will say though,i really like Steve Hackett and Tony Banks.
