We saw one of these in Sea Isle, NJ... then it moved down our street, ripped off our cars bumper and lifted up our patio table and it NARROWLY missed our car... really weird
grandma doesn't get that the funnel doesn't have to touch the ground for it to be a tornado the air colomn just has to but ps i wish my family argued like that and not loudly
Thank you for posting this vid. My husband is in the Navy, and said he saw a couple of these waterspouts, and 'smoke', over the ocean in the Bermuda Triangle. Everyone on his ship saw the 'seasmoke' and tornadoes... lol. I wish I could have too!
@NubieGTAS They spawn alot here in Tampa. Mostly in the northern parts where the storms usally blow in. Ive never seen one, just here about them alot from people who went to the beach at the wrong time
I think it's hard to decide whether or not it's anticyclonic. You look at the bottom left side then the bottom right side, it looks like it spins both ways.
@davidworx That thing is weaker, F0 more than likely. Been in FLA all my life, been as close as 50 yards to these things. The water really soaks up the power comparatively to their on-shore brothers.
I'm hoping it was just a bad morning for the female. Maybe a night of tequila followed by a double scotch for breakfast. Still, you can't convince her that she doesn't know a little about everything...and I'm sure she's often displaying how little she knows about everything. Just an annoying soundtrack.
Well no fucking shit, lady. A funnel cloud is NOT ALWAYS REQUIRED to have a tornado, and of course you're going to have a very visible funnel cloud when it's OVER THE OCEAN and therefore has access to all the water it needs to create a very vivid, solid-colored funnel cloud.
Yup! They don't usually, but they can (... and did in this case)... The opposite is also true (The 1997 Downtown Miami tornado is an example as it originated on land and crossed Biscayne Bay)... :)
waterspouts are a huge threat are you kidding!?!?!?! they're worse than huricanes because their winds are more concentrated on one area. and whoever said in the beginning im shooting live.... what else could you be shooting? in the past? in the future?
waterspouts are worse then hurricans? go tell that to the surviors of hurican andrew and katrina. i personally have never been thro a waterspout but i've heard that they usually don't do to much damage.
I disagree with you. Hurricanes are far more greater threat to human kind then a waterspout. With Hurricanes... you have Heavy rains and flash flooding (If you have poor drainage, you're going to find a way to get on top of your roof at any cost) you also have High waves and storm surge. Storm surges... depending on the hurricane can reach up to 20 feet! those who live in low elevations area must evaluate other wise you're going to be swimming for your life.
cont... You also have High winds. with a CAT 5 hurricane have wind speeds greater then 155 mph. Do some research of Super Typhoon Tip and you'll have a change of mind. Also the rain bands of a hurricane can produce Tornadoes.
it did become a tornado but as it "beached" itself, it jumped(which happens often with tornadoes), so it could very much have landed on the other side destroying somthin
it's categorized as a weak tonado, in the weak, storng, violent categories. It is still bad just smaller... Violent would be somethin like the last tornado in twister
No, warm water keeps storms going. It seemed to disapear when it hits land by an action called "jumping". The water spout...fed entirely by water, hits land and drastically weakens for a brief time, but once it gets its bearings and gets itself back together it turns into a full fledged tornado. Hope I helped a little bit =]
It really just depends how heavy the accent is. I have relatives from Kentucky and their accents are light and not annoying at all. I also have a friend from Texas and she has NO accent at all. It's really just the really heavy hick accents that bother me on girls haha
Yup, both WTVJ and WSVN broke into their morning newscasts, but their coverage started right after this point when it crossed Miami Beach and went into Biscayne Bay... At the tail end, you hear my brother say 'Too late'... it was at that moment that Channel 7 broke in... :)

WOW ... nice video. Oh, and waterspouts don't always die when they come on shore, especially when there is a strong thunderstorm providing midlevel support like you see here; one of the deadliest tornadoes ever (Natchez, 1840) crossed the Mississippi river twice.
we get a few waterspouts and tornadoes every wet season across the Top End usually in embedded thunderstorms associated with tropical lows/cyclones and the monsoon trough, quite remarkable considering mesocyclones and supercells are almost non existant here. :)
I knew it was passing to our North, but I was totally shocked that it did come ashore than anything else (All others I had ever seen out there stayed over water)...
