The bassist and guitarist in FYC were originally with the English Beat. To question their mastery is ridiculous. I never got to see them perform with the Beat, but I did see FYC at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, one of the best shows ever. And they are some of the best guitarists I've ever seen. Their dancing was unreal, like rubberband legs going the whole f'ing time. Amazing.

why is everyone comparing apples to oranges? Credit must be given to the FYC for even attempting to do a song so singularly identified with Elvis. That they came up with an interpretation that was fresh was a real surprise at the time and this performance has stood up over the years.
