I got the 2nd Generation IPod back a few years ago and there's no way I can afford to buy a completely new iPod!! Every iPod Touch should be completely destroyed and every Apple Store and Manufacturing Center should be burned to the ground!!!

eventually you can, they purposely hold back new things to put in every 2 or 3 generations so that the next one always has something new and they can sort of "stock up" on new features to add, otherwise they could make the best one first and have nothing left to do, or find it hard to think of any more features for the next one.
