  • I'm English... And this anthem is much more epic than ours...

  • @Mozat77 I`m Dutch ( a.k.a. German ) and i agree....

  • Much respect to the Welsh, their courage, bravery, and devotion to duty, is something to be marveled and forever remembered, as soldiers who fight on despite the odds. God bless the Welsh.

  • This stuff makes me wanna be welsh instead of scottish.

  • MY GOD IM ENGLISH AND PART IRISH /SCOTTISH THIS SONG MAKES ME WISH I WAS WELSHISH WONDERFAL TUNE.

  • I don't talk Welsh but I admire the Gael

  • @hawickman

But the Welsh aren't Gaels, Hawickman. They're Britons. Celtic, yes, but not Gaelic.

Wikipedia has a very interesting entry regarding the battle of Rorke's Drift.

    Thank you for posting.

  • @markpmains the real story doesnt seem to be on google but it isnt rorkes drift. the story behind the song was wales's last stand against the english invasion in about 1400 and something where followers of owain glyndwr sieged harlech castle in the longest siege in british history. the siegers dealt with disease and starvation for years. with no contact to the outside and many died from starvation etc trying to fight for the freedom of their homeland

  • @markpmains or you could go to british battles.com they have an extennsive article on the battle

  • it seems noone actually knows what this song is about

  • Swingbeeper

I envy you & your experience. Being in a authentic pub is in itself rewarding, but to hear a Welsh male choir testing the acoustics must have been a wonderful thing!

  • LadyDeirdre

Thank you for your comment. I'm not surprised to hear there are a variety of different lyrics for this inspiring piece of music. When I created the video I used the first set of lyrics I found on the internet. I was experimenting with video creation & uploading. The piece still gives me goosebumps!

  • @markpmains you are dead right over the years i have come across about a dozen versioons, it must be the most adaptedand added to song in history, great tune though

  • @markpmains

Excellent upload my friend. To say this is stirring is an understatement !

I once had the pleasure of being in a pub with a Welsh male voice choir in Llangollen. This rendition reminds me of that night. Truly awe inspiring !

  • @swingbeeper I'm from Llangollen and I'm in a Welsh male voice choir, we're singing in the Royal Albert Hall in November, sadly we won't be performing this song, but it's going to be one hell of a night!

  • @BenHughesLlangollen

Ah, you are from Llan ? I love visiting Llan, it's a beautiful little town. The pub I was in was " Jenny Jones " ( I think ) , I don't believe it is open anymore. It backed onto the pavillion. We had just watched Pavarrotti sing and then had the pleasure of the choir in the pub just afterwards.

I'm sure that your night at the Royal Albert Hall will be awesome for all involved. I only wish I could sing myself !

  • There are no "proper" English lyrics, to be honest. I do not mean by that that only Welsh lyrics are "proper," but that there is no generally agreed upon English language set of lyrics. There's a second set listed on the Wikipedia page, and I learned a third set in elementary school.

  • im learning this on flute :D corp of drums play this <3

  • Crowning. Music. Of. AWESOME.

    That is all.

  • thank you for uploading this ive bein trying to find the proper lyrics everywhere cheers bud xD

  • @jonnydude247 Technically, these aren't the "proper" lyrics. Those belong to John Oxenford and can be found on the wiki page for Men Of Harlech.

I have no idea why any other version was ever written, as the originals are perfect.

  • @BlackHowl1 thank you for the info. this is by far the best version of this song xD
