Still got both this one and Stario's Christmas for my 1040 STe - I can remember a couple of the cheat codes too - Get a high score and enter your name as "Expert" to get random levels or "Sunset" to change the colour of the background to an evening theme.
St format made a massive fuss of this one, mind you it was pretty late in the st's life when this came out. Theres also another one as well i think its called christmas stario land or something like that. I, suprised Nintendont didnt have it pulled like they did with the Mario beater Great Giana sisters.
Haha I remember doing the same using STOS and SMB3 years ago, switching from one TV channel to the other to match them up. It was quite effective though stuff doing a whole game that way :-)
I think I remember reading a review about this in ST Format. If I remember right is was only for 1mb STEs. Looks great though, with ultra smooth scrolling.
Works great on my 1mb STfm as well. But you may be right about it needing 1mb of RAM.
And it plays music on the STF as well. Not just on the STE. You just have to turn it on by pressing F9. You can't have both music and SFX at the same time though.

Really cool game, only lacks of Sound. With STE it should play some cool tunes.

This game was awesome back in the day and put almost all other platformers on the system to shame.
