I don't think evangelists and street preachers gain many converts. Whether it is intended or not, I think they almost invariably end up preaching to the choir. There are many people out there who already believe the things that people like VFX say.

Ironically, what the effect of VFX and his ilk really is, is to give atheists agnostics and secularists the opportunity to address those beliefs with those who believe them. Ultimately, evangelism serves as a mechanism for secularization, I think.

...I beg to differ. I rarely censor -- only do so to messages / people (regardless of religion) when they are spam or full of incition instead of commentary to the clip, even many Muslims like my approach, and yet I still get death threats from Muslims.

The death threats are rare, but they happen, despite that I try to be as respectful as possible - while maintaining disagreement at the same time. So I can only imagine how many death threats VenomFangX would get, with his approach -- regardless of whether or not he censored.

He was the reason I started on Youtube too! But I believe he is risen - his old account is back up. He is the sort of person I encountered when I was a christian, that actually contributed to my deconversion. Hopefully his hypocrisy, lies and cheating will cause other christians to reevaluate their faith too. At least he presents christianity as the brutal rubbish it is, rather than a fluffy benevolent faith, which it is not.

On his website it was stated that his parents took it down, this rings more true to me to be honest that the parents where trying to stop him doing what he does, but if he really got death threats it's a shame and it shouldn't have had to come to this.

Pascal's wager can only be used about religions that have strong proof and confirmed benefits as a result of their belief on THIS earth. Pascal's book goes in detail into a lot of evidence for Christianity and there is a mountain more of evidence of that these days. I don't know of any other religion that can match even part of the evidence or real benefits that the Bible has and that Christianity brings to life.

2) The Bible does NOT say that every species was herded onto a big boat. But, your ignorance is not your fault. And several books have been written showing how it could easily have fitted all KINDS in the Ark and those could have speciated (a creationist concept published LONG before Darwin&something he plagiarized from creationists)

3) Modern biology is predicting that soon people will be living many centuries long.

@sgapplebee There are easy answers for all your questions...but you like most atheists of course choose to mention only the most controversial and totally ignore the many irrefutable ways that Bible science promoted gigantic advances in knowledge in science and history. Quickly:

1) There are over 100+ dating methods that show a young earth. Far fewer show an old earth. But, both types rest on major assumptions that aren't directly testable. Soft tissue in dino fossils is quite a big problem

It most certainly IS an authority and one that is far, far better than ANY scientific or historical establishment over a comparable time period. I'm pretty skeptical of the death threat claim. For a guy under threat, VFX has always been sloppy about maintaining anonymity. Plus, he hasn't made a Muslim video in some time. Now, out of the blue, he gets a death threat from Islamic fundies? I call bullshit.

For the record, Shawn's website was the first to go, and then came the claim about the Muslims. It sounds to me like spin, to keep it from appearing as though his parents are punishing him.

Actually he quite recently made a video about muslims, it was a street preaching episode where he talked to muslims and at the same time posted pictures of extreme muslims to try to link them together.

The thing is that these muslims he was talking to seemed to be really nice guys and that's why I think that he posted those pictures.

His account has been re-opened, but no triumphant video yet, the way he made in the past(After the 1st time he lied about getting death threats), with about 5 minutes of video snippets of people saying his name. That video was probably the MOST SELF AGGRANDIZING video one could ever make.
