@nicistarful This was done with Softimage|3D and After Effects. This program was replaced with Softimage|XSI which is now called Softimage (This Year + 1). Owned by Autodesk but still based in Montreal.
@xxxXEnFoRcErXxxx Some states require seat belts in their school buses. So school buses can and should have seat belts, even if you do not believe they are necessary for safety (wrong!) they are SCHOOL buses and should train children to always wear seat belts.
@phonepl8 six states require school buses to have seat belts. So manufacturers offer them as an option. I find it ironic in the extreme that 95% of "school" buses teach kids they do not need seat belts.
@truckman63 The same thing can and does happen in cars. But if you are already dead or worse (permanently and severely damaged, a fire won't matter. In my professional experience I have never come across a fire in a school bus from a collision.
Once again a SCHOOL bus should TEACH kids the importance of wearing seat belts even if they never experience an accident. That this isn't common sense is irrational.
@jwsaul Ok so what about the jack asses of the school that strangle the other kids and it's common sense if u wanna put seat belts on little kids that is ok but teens and older it's not gunna fly and who is gunna unbucle every one
@truckman63 "jack asses that strangle other kids"? I do not see how this is relevant. If you are saying it is not possible to make teenagers behave then why send them to school at all? Enforcement may at times be difficult, but that is why the bus driver is an adult. Make the responsible kids monitors--create a culture of safety and if some kids will not obey, don't let them ride the bus. Traffic rules are made for safety. Once again, it is a SCHOOL bus, part of the school experience.
@bestamerica I do not remember the speed of the bus. The speed limit on that stretch of interstate was 65mph.
The expert I worked for is one of the best in the world and THE best when it comes to occupant kinematics, Ken Saczalski, PhD. From the marks left by the bus on the road and the median and where the bus ended up, knowing the size and mass of the bus, the speed and roll can accurately be determined.
That was the point of the case--the school district had the option, $700, to have seat-belts installed and elected to save the money--they ended up having to float a bond to pay for the extreme damages caused by not having seat belts. Some states require them, most do not.
growing up I always remembered those strange device pushing into the crack of the seat
