@koln1996 I can't really answer that question. She has said that she was verbally abusive when in the manic phases of her bipolar disease. I don't know about physical abuse. As I said above, so a google search on "patty duke sean astin 20/20" to find the article on ABC's web site. Whatever happened in the past, her relationship with her sons now is one of mutual love and respect.

I can't believe how young Patty Duke was here (35). She has a teenage son, so in the film she must have been...what....17 when she had Lance Guest's character?? Patty Duke, while always beautiful, was a "hard" 35 yrs old here! She actually looked better with age.
I am a big Patty Duke fan and never seen this film... and am thankful to the person who posted this film here.
