Suffice to say Abbath's talent lies in composition and arrangement. I guess Sons of Northern Darkness got him enough attention for Guitar World to interview him, but instrumentation is not his greatest asset. Now when Ihsahn was writing columns for Guitar World...that was great fucking stuff.

Most Norwegian bands are so dull, depressed, have nothing interesting to say and look as if they're on the verge of suicide half the time. Abbath however is refreshingly cheerful and fun, doesn't take himself too seriously, which is rare in rock music in general.
